  Konstantin Ushinsky is a Russian educator, writer and founder of the scientific pedagogy in Russia. He was born on March 2 , 1823 in Tula.

  In 1844 he graduated from Lomonosov Moscow State University, Law faculty. The basis of his pedagogical system is the demand of democratisation of the public education and the idea of the nation upbringing.

  His pedagogical ideas are shown in his books for elementary reading “Detsky Mir”(1861), “Rodnoye Slovo”(1864) and his fundamental work “ A Man as an Object of Upbringing “.
  His reading textbook “Rodnoye Slovo” was republished 157 times!

  From Ushinsky’s point of view “ the process of upbringing is preparing for the labour of life.” “The children are not only preparing to live but they are already living, and their life has its own rights and needs.”

  Ushinsky highlighted seven major principles in teaching: awareness and activity, visibility, systematic and consistent, strength, scientific, availability and connection between theory and practice.
  Ushinsky is considered to be the Father of Russian Pedagogy, elementary in particular.
