  Problems that threaten our Earth:
  
  Pollution (air pollution , water pollution, nuclear   pollution);
  Acid rains;
  Global warming;
   Destruction of wildlife;
  
  Who is to blame for the disaster? The answer is simple: all of us.

  Our forests are disappearing because they are cut down or burnt.
  The seas are in danger. They are filled with poison: industrial and nuclear waste, chemical fertilizers and pesticides.

  Every ten minutes one species of animals, plants or insects dies out for ever. If nothing is done about it, one million species that are alive today may soon become extinct.

  Air pollution is another serious problem . Factories emit tons of harmful chemicals. These emissions have disastrous consequences for our planet. They are the main reason for the acid rains. An even greater threat are nuclear power stations.

  Try to conserve water e.g. by taking short showers, not letting taps run, keeping water in the fridge instead of letting the tap run to let it get cold.

  2. Use fewer chemicals. Learn about alternatives to household cleaning items that do not use hazardous chemicals. Instead of using chemical-laden shampoos and soaps, try making your own.

  3. Plant flowers , plants and trees - don't cut them.

  4. Use less electricity. Turn off the lights when you are not in the room . Also, unplug your appliances when not in use

  5. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. ( 3 R’s)
  Make it a habit to reduce the things we need or we consume. Purchase only things that we only need.
  Reuse all the things that can still be repaired/fixed or those things that are still okay.
  Recycle things to conserve our resources, collect old newspapers, books, magazines, used papers, bottles (plastic and glass).

  6. Make your property a haven for animals. If you have the space, try to be welcoming to animals that need a helping hand. We can make donations, provide shelters, find new homes for animals and take care of them .
  Do not buy exotic and endangered animals.
  Adopt a pet. When you adopt a pet from a shelter , you are giving an animal a second chance in life.

  7. Walk, ride a bike, don't use the car whenever you can.

  8. Be a mindful consumer.
  Do not buy what you do not need. Besides saving money, you'll save resources if you don't purchase a lot of excess stuff.

  9. Join an environmental organization. Choose an organization that focuses on an aspect of the environment, such as Greenpeace, the Sierra Club or the Environmental Defense Fund, and become a member.
