The United States of America The United States of America is a federal constitutional republic and consist of 50 states and a federal district of Columbia
The USA is washed by the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, bordered by Canada to the north and Mexico to the south.
The state of Alaska is in the northwest of the continent
Population The population is over 308 million people.
The Capital of the United States of America is Washington, D.C.
History of the United States In 1492 Christopher Columbus discovered America. He thought that he found a new way to Asia.
Colonisation Later the Europeans colonized America. The Dominating of Spain was practically absolute.
Independence. The United States of America was formed in 1776 by combining the thirteen British colonies. American war for independence lasted until 1783 and ended in victory for the colonists.
The current United States Constitution was adopted on September 17, 1787
Parties The United States has operated under a two-party system for most of its history: The Democratic Party and the Republican Party
Foreign relations The United States is a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.
Science and technology. It has done this by promoting a free flow of ideas, by encouraging the growth of "useful knowledge," and by welcoming creative people from all over the world. From its emergence as an independent nation, the United States has encouraged science and invention.
English as national language English is the national language. Although there is no official language at the federal level, some laws—such as U.S. naturalization requirements—standardize English. In 2007, about 226 million, or 80% of the population aged five years and older, spoke only English at home.
