The word "art" has a special meaning. It means something beautiful. For example, the paintings of skilled painters are appreciated and admired by millions of people today, by those who can see the beauty.
People have always argued about art – how to make it, what it should look like and why. Some people think that paintings should look true to life. But many artists want to create more imaginative works.
It’s common knowledge that there’s a huge difference in what artists do. When they create their works they follow different tendencies, art movements and styles.
For example, Salvador Dali was a famous surrealist. His style of paining is very unusual. In his works he used strange dreamlike images.
The great representative of Impressionism was Claude Monet. He painted outdoors and developed a sketchy, “ impressionistic” style, trying to capture the changing effect of natural light .
Pablo Picasso was a very famous artist who worked in different styles – from delicate pastel to striking Cubist scenes where he wasn’t trying to create life like pictures.
Van Gogh was interested in the symbolic significance of colours. Everybody knows his famous work “ Sunflowers”. A single colour – yellow – dominates “ Sunflowers” making it a kind of symphony in yellow. Different stages in life cycle of the flower are shown in this paining. The background of the picture is very simple and rigid.
As for me I like beautiful pictures of Claude Monet, a French landscape painter. His landscapes are awesome!
