Active voice and Passive voice Shalova Aigul, the teacher of English Astana city, school-lyceum # 56
Ағылшын тілінде 2 етіс бар. Олар: негізгі және ырықсыз етіс. Сөйлемде іс-әрекет баяндауышпен орындалса, онда ол негізгі етіс. Сөйлемде іс-әрекеттің атқарушысы, қимыл иесі арнайы айтылмай, қимыл өздігінен істелгендігі көрініп тұрса, ондай етіс ырықсыз етіс деп аталады. The Active Voice The Passive Voice Tense Subject Verb Object PresentSimple Active: Aruzhan writes a letter. Passive: A letter is written by Aruzhan. Past Simple Active: Aruzhan wrote a letter. Passive: A letter was written by Aruzhan. Future Simple Active: Aruzhan will write a letter. Passive: A letter will be written by Aruzhan.
Ырықсыз to be көмекші етістігінің сәйкес шақ түрлерінің тұлғасы мен мағынасы етістіктің есімше II ( Participle II) арқылы жасалады. Осылайша ырықсыз етісте етістікті жіктеген кезде тек to be көмекші етістігі ғана өзгереді, ал мағыналық етістіктің II есімше (Participle II) өзгеріссіз қалады. They should guess the answers.
IV Understanding Active vs. Passive Voice
Active voice is the voice used to indicate that the subject of the sentence is performing the action or causing the action. Passive voice is the voice used when the subject is the recipient of the action. Strong writing uses active voice. Passive voice should only be used in the following instances:
- When intentionally hiding the subject of the sentence. For example, a politician might say, "Mistakes were made."
- When intentionally truing to minimize the guilt of the subject. For example, a cheating husband might respond, "Adultery was committed by me."
- When passive voice better emphasizes the main point of the passage. For example, Children were harmed by unlicensed bus drivers.
Task 1 Choose A (=active) or
P (= passive).
