The answers: 1. Yes - 23 (59%) No – 16 (41%) Chak-chak, belish, plov ochpochmak, gubadia, lapsha 2. Yes - 8 (20%) No – 31 (80%) Pudding, turkey, bacon & eggs, fish & chips 3. Favourite cuisine – Italian (56%), Russian (36%) Japanese (15%)
5 o’clock tea
The most popular drink in Tatarstan is tea. The Tatars like tea with milk, with lemon or with dried apricots
Meat is widely used in Tatar and British national dishes: beef, lamb and sheep. As a rule, the Tatars don`t cook pork.
“Ishpishmak”. It is a triangle-shaped pie with chopped peppered meat, potatoes and some onion.
“Peremyach” is a Tatar national meat pie. It is round, filled with peppered meat and little bits of onions, and it is usually fried. It is served hot, usually with a cup of broth. It`s very tasty!
Plov is one of the favourite dishes the people in Tatarstan choose to eat. It has meat, rice, onions, carrots and a lot of spices. Some hostesses like raisins and dried apricots in the plov.
Yorkshire Puddings are a classic British recipe and one of the major components of England's national dish. It is made from batter and usually served with roast meat and gravy
Haggis, a national dish of Scotland. It is a sheep’s stomach staffed with offal, suet, onions and oatmeal. It is an exotic type of sausage. It was traditionally eaten only on New Year’s Eve and now it is eaten all year-round.
Mince pies have been eaten as part of a traditional British Christmas they were made of meat but are now made with sweet mincemeat; a mixture of dried fruits, sugar, spices and brandy
The British like food from other countries, too, especially Italian and Chinese. Eating in Britain and in Tatarstan is quite international.
Conclusion On one hand, there is much in common between our and British cuisine, but on the other hand, each of them has its own unique features based on national customs and traditions. However, the main thing about both the British and the Tatar cuisine is not only that it`s varied and very delicious. It is more than only food. It`s meal that unites family and friends.
