Оборудование и материалы: географическая карта
Лондона, проектор, компьютер, колонки.
Ход урока.
1. Приветствие.
Teacher: Good morning, children.
Pupils: Good morning, Good morning,
Good morning to you.
Good morning, Good morning, We are
glad to see you.
Teacher: I’m glad to see you too.
1. Речевая разминка.
A teacher: What date is it today?
A pupil: Today is the fifteenth of
March.
A teacher: Thank you. And now
Repeat after me.
The Thames
Westminster Abbey
The Houses of Parliament
Big Ben
The Tower of London
Tower Bridge

A teacher: Where is UK? Who can show

A pupil: The capital of Great Britain
is London.
A teacher: And who can tell me where
is London situated?
A pupil: London is situated on the
Thames.
A teacher: What do you know about the
Thames?
A pupil: The Thames is the longest
river in Europe. The Thames is very clean and there are a lot of fish in it. Tourists
can travel down the river and see the sights of London.

Big Ben.
Tourists in London always visit
Westminster and Big Ben. They want to see the click in its tower and hear the
bells. Big Ben is really a bell. The bell is over two meters tall and chimes
every quarter of an hour. Early in the morning you can hear it on the radio.
“This is the BBC. The time is six o’clock”. And then you hear the deep boom of
Big Ben six times. The tower of Big Ben is a symbol of London and of Britain.

The Houses of Parliament.
The famous clock Big Ben stands near
the Houses of Parliament. The country’s leaders speak in the Houses of
Parliament. The Houses of Parliament stand beside the River Thames. You can go
on a boat from Westminster and see London from the river.

Westminster Abbey.
Standing not far from the Houses of
Parliament is Westminster Abbey, a symbol of England. The legend says that St
Peter founded Westminster Abbey. We know that Westminster Abbey was built by
King Edward in 1065. Some famous people are buried here. Today, Westminster
Abbey is a working church and a great monument to the history of England.

Trafalgar Square.
Trafalgar Square is situated in the
center of London. But it is well known all over the world. The square is famous
for Nelson’s Column. There are four lions at the bottom of the column. You can
see lovely fountains and historical monuments in the square. In December there
is a colorful 50-meters Christmas tree in the center of the square. It marks
the beginning of Christmas and New Year in Great Britain. Different cultural
festivals take place in the square. Everyone can take part in the events.

The Tower of London.
You can see the Tower of London from
the River Thames. The Tower is very old. It has a long and cruel history. It
was a fortress, a royal palace, and a prison for important people. Today it’s a
museum.
Special guards look after the Tower
and take care of the black ravens that live there. There is an ancient legend
that the Tower and Great Britain will fall if the ravens ever live the
fortress.

and you don’t know how to get to Tower Bridge. What polite phrases do we use if
we want to ask something?

Excuse me, could you tell me…..?
Let’s act out couple situations.
1) - Excuse me, I’m looking for Tower
Bridge. Could you tell me where it is, please?

It’s just in
front of you. Look!
2) – Excuse me, can you tell me where
the nearest bus station is?
-
No, I’m afraid I can’t.
You’d better ask policeman.

Today we revised about sights of London, and how can we ask a
