A noun can be countable and uncountable. Countable nouns are things we can count. one apple – six apples
Uncountable nouns are things that we cannot count water, bread, sugar, milk, cheese, meat,jam, tea, butter etc.
Some/ any Some + countable or uncountable nouns (in affirmative sentences) There are some tomatoes. There is some bread.
Any + countable or uncountable nouns (in questions and negative sentences) Are there any oranges? Is there any milk? No, there isn’t any milk.
Articles a/an are not used with uncountable nouns. He doesn’t drink coffee. It is not healthy.
