THE SIGHTS OF LONDON Read the text and find the most interesting facts about London sights. Find the Future Simple tense. London is the capital of Great Britain. It stands on the river Thames. It is a very old city. It will be 2500 years old soon.The population of London is about 11 million people. It is one of the largest cities in the world. There are a lot of interesting places in London:the Tower of London, Trafalgar Square, the Houses of Parliament, BigBen, British Museum and many others. The Tower of London is a museum now. It was a fortress, a royal palace and later a prison. There are a lot of interesting collections in the Tower of London. The black ravens (вороны)are another famous sight here. The legend says that without ravens the Tower will fall. People look after the birds. They give them food. Westminster Abbey is a royal Church. The kings and queens of England are crowned (коронуются) there. Many of the English kings and queens are buried there. Many tourists will visit that church.Prince William and Kate Middleton got married in that chirch. Trafalgar Square is in the center of London. The column of admiral Nelson is on the square. Horatio Nelson is the nationall hero. Misha will see the square too. The Buckingham Palace is the home of the British Queen Elizabeth the Second. Changing the Guard (смена караула) is a very exciting ceremony in front of the Buckingham Palace. It will happen (происходить)at 11 o’clock. The Houses of Parliament is the seat of the British Parliament (парламент). Big Ben is one of the most famous clocks in the world. The tourists will see it too.

There are always a lot of people and pigeons on the square. Every winter there is a big Christmas tree which is a gift from Norway in the middle of the square. On New Year’s Eve people gather around the tree. In the middle of the square there is Admiral Nelson’s Column.
