Fefelov Yakov Filippovich – Hero of the Soviet Union
About roots Yakov's mother died on May 9, 1988. She was 100 years old. She had four children – two sons and two daughters. His mother was hardworking. Her favourite expression was: "It is necessary to work!“ The main tragedy of Fyokla Yakovlevna was the shooting of her husband Philip. People have broken into the house and have shot him in the face of the wife and children. As it has become clear later, it was the mistake. The family of future Hero of the Soviet Union Yakov Fefelov was deserted.
About Yakov Fefelov He was born in 1923 and lived in Solonovka till 1936. After tragic death of the father the family has moved to Borovlyanka. Yakov has managed to work as the tractor operator. He was kind, laconic, very hardworking and physically strong. Fellow countrymen have learned about Yakov Fefelov only in the 80th years.
Not for the sake of glory, for the sake of life on the earth In August of the 42nd the Komsomol member Fefelov has received the first baptism of fire on the Voronezh front, then he battled on the Bryansk front as a part of ski battalion. He has been twice wounded. For the shown courage and resourcefulness the Red Army man-shooter Yakov has got the first medal "For Services in Battle" and an award of the Red Star.
Then the First Belarussian front. He wanted to become a tank man. For the short time he successfully has received a specialty of a tank mechanic-driver.
Services in battles He has destroyed in a total 2 tanks, 2 armored personnel carriers, 13 artillery pieces, about 50 cars and more than 260 soldiers and the opponent's officers. On February 8, 1945 Yakov Fefelov has burned down in the tank, оn the territory of Poland. He was 22 years old.
High rank of the hero The staff sergeant Yakov Fefelov has posthumously been awarded with the decree of Presidium of the Supreme Council of the USSR of February 27, 1945 a high rank of the Hero of the Soviet Union.
Other awards He has been awarded by the Order of Lenin, of the Red Banner, by the Order of Patriotic war of the 2nd degree, by the Order of the Red Star and a number of medals.
It isn't subject to oblivion His name is immortalized on Glory Memorial in Barnaul In 2010 in the yard of Solonovskаyа school the hero's bust has been opened.
He is remembered in Poland At last, in February, 2015 Yakov Filippovich's data are entered in registration lists of the depersonalized, symbolical mass grave at the cemetery Szczecin (the Polish People's Republic).
