CAUCASION MINERAL WATERS
This is the ecologically protected resort area of the Russian Federation. Caucasian Mineral Waters is situated in the very center of the North Caucasus, almost at equal distance between the Black and the Caspian seas. Its area covers 5.828 sq. kilometers. It’s part of Stavropol territory.
The climate of the region changes from continental to forest-mountainous. Summers in the area are warm and winters are moderate. Tourists can visit the nature reserves of the North Caucasus - Teberda, Dombai, Arkhiz, Prielbrusye where comfortable cable-ways will take you up to the eternal snows and glaciers.
Twenty million years ago there was heavy volcanic activity here. As a result, seventeen laccoliths mountains were formed in the central part of the region. Their names are very poetic and connected with numerous legends: Beshtau, Mashuck, Byk, Verblud, Kinzhal, Razvalka.
Caucasian Mineral Waters is the most prominent health resort region of the Russian Federation. By riches, quantity and the value of mineral waters this unique resort is called the pearl of Russia and has no analogue on the Euro-Asian continent. Health resorts of world significance appeared here last century. They are: Kislovodsk, Pyatigorsk, Zheleznovodsk and Yessentuki.
Kislovodsk. Kislovodsk was founded in 1803. Kislovodsk is the most southern and the biggest among the cities of Caucasian Mineral Waters . The city is famous for its exceptionally clean atmosphere.
This is Mineral gallery. It was built in 1853.
St. Nicolas cathedral, a stone temple, was built in 1888, but in 1936 it was destroyed. And now it is being restored as a principal cathedral of the region.
The museum «Shalyapin’s House» was opened in 1991. Here Shalyapin spent a lot of time enjoying the sights of the surroundings.
The Collonade is the chief sight of the park. It was built in 1912.
Pyatigorsk. It is the oldest town among the cities of Caucasian Mineral Waters. Piatygorsk is a historical memorial. The first Russian settlement appeared here in 1780.
Lermontov gallery was built in 1973. It is one of the places connected with the name of this great Russian poet.
Lasarevskay church. It was built in 1903. There is a necropolis near it – the first place where M. Y. Lermontov was buried.
Zheleznovodsk. It is the most picturesque town in Caucasian Mineral Waters. It is situated near the mountain Zheleznaya.
Pushkin gallery is situated in the central part of the park. It was built in 1902.
Kaskadnay stairs were created in1931-1936 by the project of Papkov.
The castle of Emir Bucharskii
Yessentuki. It is the oldest health resort of Caucasian Mineral Waters . The town appeared in 1839.
Alekseevsky mud hospital was built in 1912 - 1915.
Arbor «oreada» was built in 1903.
Caucasian Mineral Waters is closely connected with the name of great Russian poets, writers, painters, composers. A. Pushkin, M. Lermontov, L. Tolstoy, A. Chekhov, A.Gorkiy, B. Korolenko, A.
