  Tourism in Kalmykia. Kalmykia is one of the most interesting regions which is situated on territory of Russia. In extensive territory of Kalmykia the set of sights and unique places is located. The given region will interest tourists of different nations.

  Elista - a steppe pearl and the Buddhist centre. Local residents name Elista a steppe pearl which sparkles in the middle of lifeless and dry sand and steppes. Elista – enough young and small city, but it at all does not reduce its beauty and appeal to tourists. And Elista involves with the unique national colour: numerous Buddhist temples and constructions, City-Chess, monuments. It is possible to tell about these remarkable places infinitely long, therefore I will choose the sights most interesting, in my opinion.

  « The Gold monastery of Buddha Shakjamuni». On the first place, certainly, a matchless temple «the Gold monastery of Buddha Shakjamuni», one of the main sights of Elista. He represents a majestic building where are made молебны, rituals and celebratory divine services. Хурул (so the Buddhist temple is called) has been constructed in Elista in very short terms – for nine months 2005 and is the largest in Europe. On perimetre the building of "the Gold monastery of Buddha Shakjamuni» is enclosed by a fencing with small snow-white statues alternating through everyone five metres. Southern gate are the main things, but it is necessary to tell that in a fencing of a temple inputs exist from each of parts of the world. In the main hall – дугана – there is a majestic statue of Buddha Shakjamuni height in nine metres. Here too there is a museum of history of the Buddhism with unique exhibits.

  City-chess. Further we will be transferred on the southeast of the city of Elista, here there is a chess small town of City-chess. It has been constructed for carrying out of 33rd World chess Olympic Games in Elista. The central object – the Palace of chess in which there passed the World chess Olympic Games and 69th congress FIDE. This construction in five floors, 6 182 sq. m (gyms, cafe, a conference hall, offices). In City-chess there is a hotel, square Kaissy – goddesses-patronesses of chess, an aquapark and other objects of welfare appointment. On the central avenue the Gold crown named the sculptor of V.Vaskinym of "Jorjal" ("Blagopozhelanie") is established. Cities-chess decorate the original compositions executed by participants of the international symposium of sculptors «the Planet of Kaissa» in 1998. In Palace halls various exhibitions work. The interesting exposition of a chess museum Here settles down. In City-chess territory there is a small orthodox temple, E.N.Baturinoj's gift. Today City-chess – a venue of republican, all-Russian and international competitions on chess, business symposiums, business and cultural meetings.

  «The Pagoda of 7 days». And we will return to city centre Elista and we will examine the most interesting sights which are there. We will begin with Lenin's square. Here there is a rotunda «the Pagoda of seven days». By the way, the pagoda is called «Seven days» because has 7 circles, each of which correspond to a certain day of the week. Each person can twist the prayful drum established under a rotunda in which are put 30 million religious mantras. The drum has been made in India and then brought to Elista.

  Lagan. Lagan – the second-large city in Kalmykia. It is a city-paradox. Among flight Soviet house, abundances of supermarkets and various little shops, square with a monument to Lenin there is a splendid product of Buddhist art – Lagansky khurul. This local sight perfectly decorates provincial small town Lagan.

  … The city centre Lagan is some small streets with shops, an office building and park of attractions with nonexistent roundabouts instead of which there is a thrown building in which schoolboys play. From the point of view of tourism, the city of Lagan is interesting by affinity to Caspian sea. Here there is a set of channels and ериков in which it is possible to fish and bathe. Also here it is possible to observe flowering of plantations of a pink lotus. In Lagan good conditions for sailing and fishing.

  Reserve "Black earths" The reserve «Black the Earth» is a unique range in Russia for studying of steppe, semidesertic and deserted landscapes, and also Kalmyk population of a saiga. «The black earths» is unique in Europe the anthropogenous desert which is object of studying of hundreds of scientists from every corner of the globe. During stay in reserve «Black the Earth» also it is possible to get acquainted with the unusual nature and rare representatives of flora and fauna of this edge.

Some years ago inhabitants of Jashaltinsky area of republic Kalmykia have found out new vacation spot and treatments – the Big Jashaltinsky lake or as him call in the people, – Salty lake. The Jashaltinsky lake concerns Manychsky group of lakes реликтивного origins. About unique medical properties of Jashaltinsky Salty lake which surpass a dirt of other not less well-known lakes, today it is known outside of region. The Jashaltinsky lake is attractive and to tourists: the Tulip island where it is possible to see herd of wild horses, set of ponds, lake Manych-Gudilo and other unique natural sights is nearby located.
