Great Britain has given lots of prominent people to the world, but one of the noblest and most famous man of all was William Shakespeare. William Shakespeare was born in 1564 in the English town of Stratford-upon-Avon. His father was a businessman and the town's mayor. His mother came from a family that owned land near Stratford. William had three younger brothers and two younger sisters. Like other boys of middle-class families, William attended a grammar school in Stratford where he got a good education and also learned Latin.
When William was 18 he married Anne Hathaway. They had three children, first Susanna and then twins, a son named Hamnet and a daughter named Judith. Hamnet died when he was 11.
All in all he wrote more than 37 plays, 154 sonnets, two long poems and a great number of other poems. The main genres of Shakespeare’s works were tragedies and comedies. Almost all his literary works have been translated into more than 30 languages. His most famous works include such plays as “Romeo and Juliet”, “Hamlet”, “King Lear”, “Othello”
"Romeo and Juliet" Shakespeare's tragedy "Romeo and Juliet" is the most sad and beautiful love story in world literature. Two young people, passionate and pure of heart, can't join their lives due to the fact that their families are in a long-standing feud. Two lovers, ready for his love for incredible deeds, and the tragic end – fatal combination of circumstances that calls for readers to tears and an understanding of how prejudice can destroy a person's life.
“Hamlet” The tragedy of "hamlet" (1600-1601) — one of the most striking examples of world drama. Ivan Franko emphasized that this play is considered the most brilliant works of Shakespeare. It should be noted that the plots for his plays he usually borrowed from other authors. Was not an exception and consider a tragedy. Source of history became a legend, first written down by a Danish chronicler of the TWELFTH century by Saxo Grammatica. It tells about a young Prince Amleto, who lived in pagan times in Jutland (Denmark). His father together with his younger brother ruled the country. Deciding to seize power, the uncle of Amleto kills the king and marries his widow. The Prince wants to avenge the death of his father and to prismati vigilance of his enemies, pretending to be crazy. He manages to kill the assassin, and the courtiers, who had betrayed his father. He happily rules the Jutland, but fate does not allow him to die naturally: Amleto dies on the battlefield at the hands of another of his uncle.
Year after 1606-1607 Shakespeare wrote only a few plays, and after 1613 he stopped creating them. His last three pieces he wrote in collaboration with another playwright, probably with John Fletcher, who succeeded Shakespeare as chief dramatist in the company "the Servants of the king".23 April 1616 Shakespeare died. His literature still remains highly claimed and appreciated. Thousands of theatres stage his plays throughout the world and lots of film companies shoot new versions of already known Shakespeare stories.
