A CUP OF TEA English people say:” If you are hot, tea will cool you off, and if you are cold , it will warm you up”. Tea came to Britain from China in 1500s, but it was only for the very rich. Have you heard of the tradition “5 o’clock tea”? It was introduced in the early 1800s by the 7th Duchess of Bedford. Guests were offered sandwiches, cakes, biscuits and fruit and, of course, tea. If someone in England asks ’Would you like a cuppa?’ it means ‘would you like a cup of tea?’

At the end of the war the two roses were combined into the Tudor rose. The idea belonged to Henry VII Tudor, who fell in love with Elizabeth of York, married her and united the two houses.
