James Aldridge Biography
James Aldridge was born in the small town of White Hill in southeastern Australia on July 10, 1918.
The boy's family had five children.
James was the youngest.
Aldridge's parents moved to Swan Hill in the mid-1920s. James Aldridge studied at the commercial college of Melbourne, and worked at the age of fourteen, combining journalism with training. In 1938, he moved to London.

In 1938 James Aldridge moved to London.
There he entered Oxford University, thus he became a student at Oxford University, studying economics.
Then he attended flight courses and actively collaborated in a number of London newspapers.

James Aldridge had been on the front line of several fronts from 1939 till 1945. During 1944-1945 During the Second World War I managed to visit Norway, Greece, Egypt, Libya, Iran, and spent 1944-45 in the Soviet Union.

During World War II Aldridge worked as a correspondent in Iran and in the Middle East. In 1942 his first novel, A Matter of Honor was published and immediately became a bestseller.

In 1942 Aldridge married Dina Michnik.
The couple had 2 sons.

From the mid-1960s on, Aldridge wrote primarily books for children and teenagers.
For a long time, the writer maintained friendly relations with the USSR, and therefore in 1972 he was awarded the honorary Lenin Prize "For Strengthening Peace Among Nations".

The second novel of the writer "Sea Eagle" was published in 1944. The plot is based on the story of the fate of Australian pilots after the disaster on the island of Crete in 1941.

His finest novels live on in probably thousands of readers around the world.
James Aldridge has been a great writer, but certainly it would be difficult to find one who has done so with such success, uniting a warm sympathy for the persons about whom he writes with.
