The subject of my presentation is SMART
HOUSE.
I think this topic is very important for
the audience because it is connected with our future life.
The main points of my talk are:
·
The History of the development of «Smart House»
·
The work of the home automation system
·
Sensors in the clever house
My talk will be during 10 minutes.
At the end of our talk I’ll answer you
questions.
First of all I’ll be looking at the
history of smart house.
One of the first "Smart Houses" was built in
the United States of America. It happened in the middle of the XX century. They
were houses of the wealthiest Americans, equipped with electronics, such as
microwave, washing machine, air conditioner, fan or wall-mounted TV with a
remote control system.
History of "smart home" began in 1961, when
Joel and Ruth Spira invented and patented a special device for fine adjustment
of light.
A major event in the further development of technology
"smart home" was the creation of the Swedish company Pico
Electronics, home automation in 1975, which first began to be used to control
the music player.
In 1978 was developed a technology management of
electrical household appliances by wire network. It was done by the company
Leviton and X10 USA. But this technology is anticipated frequency of 60 Hz and
a voltage of 110 V, because of what was not popular in Russia.
Company Echelon, created protocol LonWorks, allowed
intellectualize each node management system and microprocessor chips. This
system allows you to store the database parameters and data on scanning the
various devices on the computer, and after the commission of certain events
happening any reaction to these events.
Now days the system went even further in terms of
features.
This leads directly to
the next part of my talk. I would like to tell you about the application of
home automation in peoples’ practice
1) Twitter
& SMS Doorbell
If someone pressing the
doorbell an X10 signal to Misterhouse which announces the speakers that there
is someone at the door and sent an sms text message toy mobile phone.
2) Turning
lights on and off
in several areas will
turn lights detecting movement if it is dark. In the morning it turns bedside
light on to wake somebody up gradually.
3) A
Voice message.
Voice message telling me
what time it is, what the external temperature is and the current weather. The
system also provides notifications if the fridge door has been left open.
4) The
coffee machine
The coffee machine in the
kitchen is turned on a few minutes after Star Trek sounds that coffee is ready.
5) Google
calendar
People can schedule
events creating an event in a Google calendar which makes a nice easy way to
schedule things from any device and caters for one off events or repeating
events.
6) Monitoring
of gas usage
Monitoring of gas usage
has a pulse magnet inside that pulses and show how much gas is used.
7) The
central heating thermostat
The central heating
thermostat can control the heating based on the temperature information.
8) Video
system
Video system may consists
of three IP cameras. For examples: Camera one is opposite down the front path
from above the front door. Camera 2 is inside the front window. Camera 3 with
night vision gives a view of the yard and back door.
9) Telephone
system
People used external Pace
Voice modem later they switched to Asterisk. Asterisk is very powerful and has
huge potential for home automation. Such as music, call parking, speaking
clock, alarm calls and so on.
10) iRobot Roomba
An autonomous robotic
vacuum cleaner, on a preset schedule it will set off and clean the living area
returning to its charger once finished.
11) Curtain Automation
Curtain Automation
automate opening and closing of the living room curtains.
Next I’ll go on to the examples of sensors
home automation system.
The sensors tracing the movement
They applied in security systems and in creation of
intellectual lighting.
Gerkon is the
electromechanical device, working at disconnection of contacts.
The acoustic announcer of breaking glass
reacts to a sound at glass destruction.
Motion sensors
are based on technology of tracking change infrared or ultrasonic fields, they
are used in security systems and automatic managements lighting .
Sensors of presence
are similar to sensors of the movement. They are based on the principle of
action, but are more sensitive to change of parameters.
The sensors reacting to environment
parameters
The external sensor of temperature
will supply system given to air temperature in the street.
Room sensors of temperature
promote comfortable temperature in certain rooms.
The sensor of leak of gas
will give a signal on the panel and will report about leak by a shrill signal.
Fire-prevention sensors
react to existence in air of a smoke or temperature increase over critical
size.
The leakage sensor of
water will block the valve cut in a water supply system.
Well, that’s all I wanted to say about
this topic.
Thank you very much for you attention.
