«...They covered life with their endeavour – ... their life was bout to begin So that the sky were blue as ever, And grass might be as ever green.» Rimma Kazakova A war... This word is frightening. It is based on sufferings, troubles and deaths. Our country underwent many severe trials during its history. It was the beginning of the 20 century: World War I, the Civil War and the Great Patriotic War. The last one concerned every family in Russia. Young and old people stood up to defend their Motherland. The Great Patriotic War didn’t give our families a wide berth. Our great-great-grandfathers took part in it that we were told about by our grandparents. We would like to tell about them.
We are going to begin our story from Morozov Peter Mikhailovich who was born in 1911 in the village Erzovka, Mokshan district, Penza region. He was mobilized in the army on 22 June, 1941 and worked as a driver in a military hospital 681 during the battle for Moscow. In August 1942 my great-great-grandfather fought at the Leningrad Front. He delivered food and medicines in blockade Leningrad. His every truck ride was a heroic deed because of violent bombing and severe winter. Peter Mikhailovich took part in the liberation of Byelorussia. He finished the war in Konigsberg. His truck went 50 000 km without accidents. My great-great-grandfather was awarded by the Medal "For the Defence of Moscow" and by the Medal for Battle Merit. After demobilization Peter Mikhailovich lived in Mokshan, he died on19 September, 1998.
The next character of our story is Berlin Mikhail Zakharovich . He was a war engineer. My great-great-grandfather fought at the Western and Byelorussian Fronts. The major Berlin was the second in command of the 132 road-operational battalion and organized the building of bridges and roads under a furious gunfire of enemy troops. He was awarded by the Medal "For the Defence of Moscow", the Medal «For Courage», The Order of the Red Star and The Order of the Patriotic War.
Stalingrad… The battle for this town is famous for heroism of Soviet soldiers. My great-great-grandfather Shubin Grigori Mikhailovich was among them. He fought in landing troops. When our army began a wide-front ttack Grigori Mikhailovich was injured and evacuated to a hospital in Rostov-on-Don. After recovery my great-great-grandfather came back to his division, which was a part of The Ukrainian Front III. He freed from enemies not only our country but Romania, Bulgaria and Czechoslovakia. My great-great-grandfather was awardedbythe Medal for Battle Merit. During the Great Patriotic War Soviet soldiers had to fight with violent enemy for every meter of the land giving their lives for the future of all mankind. Our great-great-grandfathers were among them. We are proud of our ancestry and we will remember them forever!
