    Who are the neighbours
    of the territory?
    
    Stavropol Territory has unique geographical position. It stands on the 45th parallel, on the border between Europe and Asia, the Black and Caspian Seas. Our territory bourders upon Rostov territory and Kalmykia in the north, Dagestan and Chechen Republics in the east, Northern Ossetia, Kabardino Balkaria, Karachai Circassian Republic in the south and Krasnodar territory in the west. The territory is divided into 26 districts including Arzgir district. There are 19 towns in it. The biggest ones are Stavropol, Nevinnomysk, Pyatigorsk, Georgievsk, and Izobilny.

• What is Stavropol Territory   famous for?

   

  The territory is divided into 26 districts including Arzgir district. There are 19 towns in it. The biggest   are Stavropol, Nevinnomysk, Pyatigorsk, Georgievsk, and Izobilny.

   

  The longest river in the territory is the Kalaus.

  The largest lake in the territory is the Manych-Gudilo.

  The largest storage pond in the territory is Chogray.

  The longest canal in the territory is the Bolshoy Stavropol Canal.

   

   Such towns as Pyatigorsk,  Kislovodsk, Essentuki, Zheleznovodsk and  Min-Vody are called spa zone. They are famous for the spring mineral waters.                                    There are 3 basic deposits of thermal water in the Stavropol Territory: Kazminskoe, Nizhne-Zelenchukskoe and Tersko-Galugaevskoe.

  The world famous bottled mineral waters аre Narzan, Essentuki-4, Essentuki-17, Essentuki-40, Mashuk, and Slavyanovskaya.

   

  Picturesque nature, towns, surrounded by mountains, mineral sources make these places unforgettable for  those who came here first.

   Many people come there to have a rest and to keep their health.                                                          Where would you go after  finishing the school?

  There are many colleges and universities   in Pyatigorsk,  Kislovodsk, Essentuki, Zheleznovodsk and other towns of our territory. For example  State University and,Medical University in Stavropol , Philological State University and Pharmaceutical University in Pyatigorsk.

    More than 60% of the Stavropol Territory's industry consists of mechanical engineering, metalworking, chemistry, petrochemistry, electric power engineering oil and gas.
    The biggest industrial plants are: the joint stock companies "Nevinnomysski Azot, "Stavropolpolimer", "Arnest.” All these plants produce fertilizers, reagent, polyethylene and cosmetics.
    
    Plant growing.The main grain-crop in plant growing is the winter wheat. Its sown area is 1.2 million hectares. Additionally, the spring and industrial crops are cultivated in the Stavropol Territory.
    Sugar beet, sunflower, oil-seed rape, corn, buckwheat, mustard, vegetable, fruit and grape also occupy large sown areas.
