Why people travel?

People began to travel ages ago. The very first travellers were explorers who went on trips to find wealth, fame or something else. Their journeys were very dangerous but still people keep on going to the unknown lands.

If we are fond of travelling we see and learn all sorts of things we can never see or learn at home. Though we may read about them in books and newspapers and see pictures of them at cinema. The best way to study geography is to travel and the best way to get to know and understand the people is to meet them in their own houses.

Thousands of people travel every day either on business or for pleasure. They can travel by air, by rail, by sea or by road.
Of course, travelling by air is the fastest and the most convenient way, but it is the most expensive too.

It is not surprising that millions of people all over the world spend their holidays travelling. It broadens our impressions, gives a possibility to see other countries and continents, modern cities and the ruins of ancient towns, and of course, travelling by itself is a good rest.

People on our planet can not live without travelling now. Tourism has become a highly developed business. There are express trains, cars and jet-air liners all of that provide you with comfort and security. What choice to make? It’s up to you to decide. There is a great variety of choice available for you.

There is a tendency that people living in the country prefer to visit big cities and enjoy there museums, art galleries, theatres, shops.

But city dwellers tend to have a quiet holiday by the sea, in the village, or in the mountains. All they want to do is to bathe, to lie in the sun, to breathe fresh air and just relax.

Travelling by sea is very popular. Large ships and small river boats can visit foreign countries and different places of interest within their own country.

Nowadays travelling is not as dangerous and much more convenient. Do you want to go somewhere? Hundreds of companies are there to help you.

They will take care about your tickets and make all the reservations needed. You don’t speak the language of country you go to? There are interpreters that will help you.

With modern services you can go around the world. You can choose the means of transport you like: plane, train, ship, bicycle or you can travel hiking.
Tourism became a very profitable business because people are ready to spend their money for the great opportunity to have a great time learning about new countries, going sightseeing, resting and enjoying themselves.

If we want to see countryside we have to spend a part of our summer holidays on hikes. During such hikes we see a lot interesting places, sometimes we meet interesting people. It’s useful for members of our family. We take our rucksacks and don’t think about tickets .

If you travel for pleasure you would like all means to enjoy picturesque areas you are passing through, you would like to see the places of interest in the cities, towns and countries.

Travelling gives us a good opportunity to see wonderful monuments, cultural and historical places, to learn a lot about history of the country you visit, about the world around us, to meet people of different nationalities, to learn a lot about their traditions, customs, culture. In other worlds, you will broaden your mind.

Иностранный язык как учебный предмет характеризуется:
- межпредметностью (содержанием речи на иностранном языке могут быть сведения из разных областей знания, например, литературы, искусства, истории, географии, математики и др.);
- многоуровневостью (с одной стороны необходимо овладение различными языковыми средствами, соотносящимися с аспектами языка: лексическим, грамматическим, фонетическим, с другой - умениями в четырех видах речевой деятельности);
- полифункциональностью (может выступать как цель обучения и как средство приобретения сведений в самых различных областях знания).
Иностранный язык расширяет лингвистический кругозор учащихся, способствует формированию культуры общения, содействует общему речевому развитию учащихся. В этом проявляется взаимодействие всех языковых учебных предметов, способствующих формированию основ филологического образования школьников.
