It was a fortress, a palace, a

people. Now the Yeomen Warders called ‘ Beefeaters’ guard the Tower of London.
Londoners look after the ravens which live near it. They believe that while the
ravens are near the Tower it will never fall.
Tower Bridge is not far from the
Tower.(4) It was rebuilt in 1976. And now it is a museum too.
Next to Tower Bridge is London

American bought the old bridge and took it to Arisona in the USA. In 1973 the
new London Bridge was opened.
St.Paul’s Cathedral is one of the
most famous churches in Great Britain.(6)

The Bank of England is in Threadneedle
Street. It was built in 1694.
Westminster is the political and
historical centre of London. Many government offices are in Whitehall Street.
Here you can see the Changing of the Horse Guards. Off Whitehall Street the
British Prime Minister lives in Downing Street 10.(7)
Whitehall Street leads to Parliament
Square. On the left of Parliament Square there are the Houses of Parliament.(8)
The central part was built in the 11th
century. The Clock Tower on the Houses of Parliament has the bell and the clock
called ‘Big Ben’. ‘Big Ben’ is 98 metres high. The sound of ‘Big Ben’ is heard
every hour in Great Britain and in other countries of the world.

After their hard work Londoners like
to spend their spare time in the garden or sitting and talking in the pub,
