There are a lot of places of interest in London.

Among them there are: Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, St Paul’s Cathedral, London Bridge, the Tower of London.

London stands on the river Thames.

Crossing the river by the Tower Bridge you can see the Tower of London.

It is one of the oldest buildings of the city.

Many centuries ago it was a fortress, a royal palace and then a prison.

Now it is a museum of arms.

On the bank of the Thames, not far from the Tower of London, you can see Westminster Palace, or the Houses of Parliament.

It is the seat of the British government and it is one of the most beautiful buildings in London.

In one of its towers there is famous Big Ben, the largest clock of England.

It strikes every quarter of an hour.

Buckingham Palace is the Queen’s official London residence.

Tourists always go to see the ceremony of changing the Guard there.

London has many fine squares.

Some of them are quiet; others are busy like Trafalgar Square.

Trafalgar Square is the central square of the city.

To the right of the square there is the National Gallery which has a fine collection of European paintings.

St Paul’s Cathedral is the biggest English church.

Another famous church is Westminster Abbey where kings, queens, and many famous people are buried.

London is also famous for its beautiful parks.

Hyde Park is the most democratic park in the world, as anyone can say anything he likes there. Regent’s Park is the home of London Zoo.

Tower Bridge

 

        Tower Bridge has stood over the River Thames in London since 1894 and is one of the finest, most recognizable bridges in the world. At the Tower Bridge Exhibition you can enjoy breath-taking views from the high-level walkways and learn about the history of the bridge and how it was built. Visit the Victorian Engine Rooms, home to the original steam engines that used to power the Bridge. Tower Bridge Walkways have specially designed windows, giving a unique opportunity to take photos of the views without them being obscured by glass. Housing three exquisite, stunning and unique venues, which are ideal for all styles of corporate hospitality and private events, including weddings and commitment ceremonies.

       Tower Bridge, London is a source of infinite interest to the travelers. It is 60 meters long and its towers go up to a height of 43 meter. From the top of the towers, you will get a majestic view on the center of London. You must also visit the inside of the tower where you will watch the original mechanism used to elevate the bridge.


 

 

 

 

 

 

The Houses of  Parliament

         The Parliament Houses are one of the most stunning spots in Westminster. Parliament is the location where laws are formatted in the United Kingdom. It also contains the houses of commons and the lords. The buildings of this Parliament are perplexingly detailed and some time must be devoted to the stunning architecture. The end of the Parliament stands the famous bell, Big Ben, also known as the Clock Tower. It is the biggest four faced chimney clock on earth. Big Ben has emerged to be one of the most active personalities of London and UK.

             Trafalgar Square is in the centre of the West End of London. On the north side is the National Gallery; in the north-east corner is the National Portrait Gallery, and in the centre is Nelson’s Column with the figure of the great seamen. Trafalgar Square is the place where mass meetings and demonstrations for peace and for working people’s rights take place.

    Located in the city of Westminster, it is the official residence of the London British Monarch. It is a place of immense tourist attraction because of it occasions and entertainment which is royal. It is one of the rare working palaces left in the world today. The State rooms are used widely by The Queen and her Members to welcome guests to the State for celebrations and formal festivals. The palace’s 19 state rooms are opened for tourists when The Queen makes her yearly trip to Scotland in the months of August and September. It is also funny to note the guards here with big black hats. This place brings in millions of visitors every year.

      The British Museum in London is very huge and filled with fascinating prehistoric objects for one to get carried away with the strange prehistoric world.
The London British Museum is divided into sections. The Ancient Egypt is perhaps the most visited one - it demonstrates each feature of the civilizations of the Nile Valley, from the Neolithic period till the twelfth century AD. Whether you like the past or you don't, there is a small piece for everybody. Full explanations are provided for each item and therefore it is also an immense opportunity to assess your skill or find out new stuffs.
Department of Greek and Roman antiques is also widespread. It presents over 1,000 items from the traditional world, ranging from the commencement of the Greek Bronze era.
Departments of Asia, Middle East, Africa and Americas feature antique and past evolutions in a striking compilation of past treasures.

St. Paul's Cathedral

 

        St Paul’s Cathedral is the greatest work of England’s greatest architector Christopher Wren. The cathedral was begun in 1675. It was opened in 1697 but was finished only in 1710, when Wren was almost eighty years old. There are memorials to many famous men of England in the Cathedral.

         Hyde Park is the largest park in the West End of London. In the 19th century it became a popular place for public meetings.

         The Tower of London is the most famous of all the historical buildings in   London. It stands today almost unchanged since first it was built in the 11th century. In the past the Tower of London served both as a palace and as a state prison, but it is only a museum today. The Tower of London is simply a spectacular place to visit, which is located on the northern bank of the river Thames. It is considered as a historic monument and is also recognized as the ‘White Tower’. The entire tower is however, a complex structure comprising of several buildings. This place was previously known for great torture and misery. UNESCO has recently enlisted this place in its world heritage list.

Piccadilly Circus

          Piccadilly Circus is a square in the central part of London. London’s best-known theatres and cinemas and most famous restaurants are on Piccadilly Circus. This beautiful gothic church is a UNESCO World Heritage Site popular with many visitors to London.
Kings, Queens, statesmen, aristocrats, poets, priests, heroes and villains are all part of the church’s fascinating history. Many of whom were buried at the Abbey including Charles Dickens, Dr. Samuel Johnson and Charles Darwin.
Since the crowning of William the Conqueror in 1066, Westminster Abbey has been the nation’s Coronation church. Many Kings and Queens, including the current reigning Queen Elizabeth II, have been crowned on King Edward’s Chair.
The Abbey has also seen many Royal Weddings and Funerals through the years.
Highlights of this grand building include a statue of the Virgin Mary holding a baby Jesus.
