Teacher: Good afternoon,
pupils! Nice to see you! Look what a huge bag I have got with me. What do you
think I need for the lesson as a young progressive teacher?
Pupils:……………………
Teacher: Let’s see whether
you are right. Inside the bag I have a Smartphone, a laptop, a wireless mouse
etc.
How do we call all these
things in one word?
Pupils: ……
You are right.
Teacher:You see that even a
simple TV-set was a miracle several decades ago. Today we are going to speak
about different devices.
Teacher:Here you can see a
time line.
Let’s work in mini groups
to find out what inventions were created in the 19th, 20th
and 21st centuries.
To split up into groups you
should choose any card you like. If you have a red one you go to the 21st
century. If you have a blue one – you go back to the 20th century,
if you have a yellow card – your century is the 19th one.
Each group gets a set of
pictures of different great inventions. Define:
1.
the inventions that were made in
your century;
2.
how these technologies
influenced our lives positively;
3.
finally decide on the most
important invention of your century.
You are given 2 min.
Use the ideas you see on
the slide:
-make work faster/more
organised
-spread information
-do boring jobs
-cheap means of
entertainment
-make life better
Pupils:……………………
Teacher: You can see how
fast our world is changing.
It’s not a secret many
countries nowadays are involved into a cut throat competition. What countries
come to your mind when you hear the word “hi-tech”
Pupils:……………………
Teacher: Lets’ imagine that
you have a unique opportunity to meet a representative from “Apple” corporation.
Discuss in groups what questions
you would like to ask him.
Pupils:……………………
Teacher: In fact today we
have a chance to connect with the USA and have a short talk with Mr. Rick
Olson who is Apple Corporation Representative.
(Mini conference via
“Skype”)
Teacher: What information
you have learned from Mr. Rick Olson would you like to share with your
classmates?
Pupils:……………………
Teacher: Not only the USA is
famous for its innovative ideas but the whole world participates in the
technological progress. By the way have you heard about “The CEBIT”
exhibition?
Pupils:……………………
Teacher: Then, the Euro
news report will be interesting for you.
Before watching look
through the words:
·
waterproof
·
microchip
·
to replace the referee
·
voice recognition
Guess what gadgets will the
video be about?
Pupils:……………………
Teacher: While watching
work in pairs and fill in the table.
Discuss with your partner which
device they would like to buy and to use? Why? Is it useful or not?
Pupils:……………………
Teacher: Thanks a lot for your
answers.
How modern inventions will
change our future life – in a positive or negative way?
Pupils:……………………
Teacher: You can see that a
microchip ball can replace a referee. What do you think if robots will
replace human beings in future?
Pupils:……………………
Teacher: While preparing
for the lesson I have invented my own device. It is a mood thermometer. Let’s
see how it works.
Teacher: Let’s see the
results of your work. Who demonstrated the best knowledge in the hi-tech
sphere? Whose answers did you like most of? Why?
Pupils:……………………
Teacher: Count your points.
Teacher: I hope your mood
won’t be spoiled with your homework. It is a mini project “My hi-tech day in
2025” that can be in any form you like: a written essay, a Power Point
presentation or even a video.
As for me I see my future
like this. (video “Watch your day in 2025 (Future Technology)”.
And I hope that your future
life will be very bright, positive, highly developed and successful.
Thank you very much for
your great work!
The lesson is over.
Good-bye!
