During this term we’ve been working on the project “Healthy diet” Everybody knows that food we eat greatly influences our health. So we decided to consider what diet should we have to be healthy. That was the aim of our work.
Studying this topic: -we learnt what a healthy diet is
Tried to divide the food according to the “rainbow” principle
Made a survey about healthy eating habits
Work out some recommendations how to eat properly
1. What is a healthy diet
A healthy diet is one of the things that helps maintain or improve overall health. Each cell of our organism depends on the food we eat. Healthy food begins with healthy products. Some kinds of food help us to stay young, not to catch colds often or have a lot of energy. Fruits and vegetables make up the main part of a healthy diet. And most of them have a bright color. Now we want to tell you about it.
2. Rainbow of food
Food of different colors is responsible for different functions in the body.
1. Red foods get you moving. They give you that extra boost when you really need it the most.
2. Orange foods are brain food. They help you keep your mind on things are really improve your powers of concentration.
3. Yellow foods are nature's way of helping us to stay happy. They make you more optimistic.
4. Broccoli, lettuce and cucumbers are all green foods. These foods are great when you want to relax, calm yourself down or keep your emotions under control.
5. Blue foods prepare you for a good night's rest.
6. Fruits and vegetables like figs, prunes and beetroot make people more creative. Moreover, purple food can keep you looking young!
But despite the fact that healthy foods provide the body with health and beauty, most people opt for junk food. For example in Russia. Look at this diagram. We can see that only 16 percent of the population of our country eat properly. So, why this statistics is so sad?
Most of Russians eat junk food because they haven’t got a time to eat properly. The job is often a reason for it. But every time when you eat fast food remember that «Good health is above wealth. »
What can we say about healthy diet in our class?
3. The problem of healthy diet in our class.
We asked our classmates and found that 17 of them prefer fast food, and only 9 of them prefer healthy food. It shows that only 35 percent of our classmates eat properly. We think it's a problem because eating unhealthy food leads to the development of various diseases such as obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and cancer.
What do you need to do to avoid these diseases?
4. So, we have a few recommendations for you:
Making healthy food choices
Don't drink chemicals drinks. It is a good idea to drink water, juice, smoothies, tea, and so on. However, soda, cola, and drinks that look like they are made in a lab should definitely be avoided.
Eat fewer unhealthy fats and empty calories. Generally reduce the amount of unhealthy saturated and trans fats in your diet. They can be found in food like chips, margarine, oils and many boxed or frozen foods. Coconut oil is relatively the healthiest, but it is still not good.
Eat more nutrient rich foods. Try to focus on eating foods which deliver lots of vital nutrients to your body. These are foods rich in vitamins and minerals. You can try citrus fruits, dark greens like cabbage and spinach.
Eating the right amount
Eat when you're hungry, stop when you're full. Many people seem to think that people get hungry at about 9 AM, 12 noon, and again at 6 PM. While this may be a generally good schedule for eating, remember that you don't have to eat at mealtime if you're not hungry yet. Also, if you are hungry between meals, go and eat a meal. It's not good to starve yourself between meals: if you allow yourself to become too hungry, you'll just eat tons of quick easy garbage.
Drink lots of water every day.This is very important. You may think you are hungry when, in fact, you are really just thirsty. It also makes your liver and kidney a lot happier. Try adding a slice of lemon, lime, or orange to your water for a great taste; cucumber slices for an even crispier taste!
Building healthy ideas about food
If you find yourself fantasizing about food, you have a problem. If your diet is good enough and sufficient in calories and carbohydrates, you'll be full and happy. Fantasizing about food is a good indicator you're doing something wrong.
Don’t eat a huge meal when you go out. It’s very reasonable to want to eat a delicious meal at a restaurant, especially if you aren't a very good cook. But understand that restaurant meals are often large. You shouldn't eat that much food in one sitting! Instead, eat only half the meal and save the rest for lunch the next day. You can also order an appetizer, rather than a full meal if you know those portions may be better.
5. Сonclusion :
Take care of your health. If you want to be really healthy you have to eat properly and learn to choose the right food. Remember that health is a pledge of longevity.
