Mobiles are
very popular nowadays .Because people love talking to each other. And it’s
easier with a mobile phone. People think mobiles are fun and useful. In
countries like Russia, people use mobiles in places, where there is no land
line. Business people use mobiles when they’re travelling. In some countries
many people use their mobiles to send e-mail messages and access the Internet.
A lot of people listen to music on their mobiles.
Mobile
phones are very fashionable with teenagers. They can always keep in touch with
their parents, especially when they are in trouble or need help. So they feel
safer. But nowadays teenagers mostly use their mobiles to play computer games.
Besides, it’s cool for them to have a new expensive mobile. Before they used to
smoke cigarettes to look good. Now they have mobiles. And alongside they have
respect of their peers. But parents and school are worried about the possible
problems of mobile phones.
There is
now more than 1 billion mobile users around the world. This number will surely
grow in no time. A lot of people dislike mobiles. They hate it when the
businessman opposite them on the train has a loud conversation on his mobile. Or
when people talk on the mobiles in cafes and restaurants.
But the
problem can be much more serious. We can’t say for sure if mobiles are
completely safe or not. It’s possible they may heat up the brain as we hold
them too close to our head and thus have headaches. Scientists fear that
mobiles can be bad for memory and even cause bad eyesight. That’s why some
people use “handfree” mobiles. And no guarantee they are less dangerous. A lot
of parents don’t give their younger children mobiles for this reason.
Sometimes we
prefer to forget the possible dangers of mobiles, because they are useful and
fun. We choose to believe they are safe. Let’s hope, we’re right!
