I.
The beginning of the lesson.
a) Organization and
greetings
T: Hello, dear children! I am
very glad to see you! How are you today? (the teacher begins the chain of
asking about feelings).
Then, let’s start our
today’s work.
b) Giving compliments
T: My dear! Today we are having
an unusual lesson. To make it less stressful let’s begin our lesson with
compliments to each other. Take one and pass to the person you want to make a
compliment.

c) Warm up.
Revising the topic
“Healthy way of life”
T: You already know much about
how to be healthy and keep fit. Let’s recall your knowledge on the topic
“Healthy way of life”.
Pupils answer the teacher’s
questions:
1.
What rules should you follow to be
healthy?
2.
How many hours a night should a
teenager sleep?
3.
What healthy food do you remember?
4.
Does sport help people to be healthy
and fit?
5.
What addictions do you know? Do
they help you to be healthy and keep fit?
Topic
“Healthy Way of Life”.
To become a
healthier person, you should follow some rules:
Get a lot of
sleep. Sleep is food for the brain. If you sleep little, you will look
bad, feel bad and work poorly. Teens need about 9 hours of sleep every night.
Eat healthy
food. Healthy eating habits are very important for our health. A
balanced diet should include different kinds of products, such as
- Dairy products: milk,
cheese, cottage cheese, sour-cream
- Meat: pork, mutton,
lamb, poultry, beef
- Fruit:
peaches, pineapples, oranges, bananas
- Vegetables:
beetroots, cauliflower, peаs, pepper, cabbage, leek, onions
- Grains:
bread, wheat, corn, buckwheat
You should try
to eat more homemade food and less junk food or fast food. People, who eat fast
food, can become overweight. Fast food has a lot of additives, flavorings and
preservatives.
Do exercises. To be healthy
and fit a person should exercise more. It’s possible to lose weight and become
fitter just doing regular exercises. You can jog every morning or do
stretching exercises in the evening.
Say no to
addictions. There are two types of addiction – substance addiction and
behavioral addiction. People can become addicted to drugs, alcohol, tobacco,
sniffing glue or petrol. They can also be addicted to gambling or playing
computer games. As for me, I have no bad habits as I understand: the more you
care about your health, the longer you will live.
II. Lead-in
Picture #1 on the
blackboard .

T: Children! I’d like to say
that today we are going to talk not only about health itself but one specific
field connected with it. I want you to guess the real topic of the lesson. Look
at the pictures on the blackboard. What do you think the topic of our today’s
lesson will be? Do you have any ideas? (Children give their variants).
T: The real topic of the
lesson is “Stress”. Also you can see the topic of the lesson on the blackboard.
III. The main part of the
lesson.
a) Picture #2 on the
blackboard .

T: Now look at picture #2 and
compare it with the first one. Do you think the animals are experiencing the
same stress or different? Yes, there are two types of stress: distress (bad)
and eustress (good). What do you feel while being distressed or eustressed:

Distress/Eustress
frustrated energetic
exhausted enthusiastic
demotivated motivated
indifferent interested
b) Listening comprehension. Watching
a video “Managing stress”

Now let’s watch a video about
the origin of stress, its symptoms and the influence it has on us and also the
ways to cope with it. Then we’ll have a talk on the video:
1.
Is the origin of stress natural?
2.
How does it influence our bodies?
3.
What are the symptoms of stress?
4.
What do we call bad stress?
5.
What do we call good stress?
6.
Can we do anything to cope with
it? What are the ways to release stress and relax?
c) Working with hand
outs.
T: Let’s find out what you
feel being stressed out.
·
Circle the parts of body in the
picture where you feel stress.

Feedback. What do you usually feel when stressed out, what are
the symptoms of stress?
·
T: Now let’s find out what causes
stress in your life and if it was distress or eustress. Tick the boxes.

Feedback. Discuss in groups if you experienced stress in
different situations or the same. Say if it was a distress or eustress.
·
We already know the origin of
stress, its reasons and symptoms. Now it’s high time to find the ways to
release stress that you personally use. Tick the boxes.

Feedback. Discuss in groups and say what the most popular ways
to de-stress are.
d) Feedback of the
lesson. Fill in the chart.

e) T: You marks are…..
f) T: The home task is to
give detailed answers to the following questions for discussion in next lesson.
