3rd  Estimation. You should estimate or value your classmates’ answers.

Relaxation. A song “Inventors and Inventions”.

V. T: Do you agree with these quotes? Why/Why not?

Group 1.  –“Invention is an extraordinary thing made by extraordinary people.”

  Suggested Answer:

Yes, we agree with this idea. We think that inventions are made by extraordinary people, and they are called  inventors. We may agree with the idea that invention is an extraordinary thing, too, because it is useful and makes our life easier, more comfortable. We think that inventors are extraordinary people, because all the inventors were and are abnormal people. Some of them even had problems in studying at school, for example, Thomas Edison had difficulty in learning in his childhood as many children. But he became a great inventor and was an author of 1093 inventions. How could it be? Not every child who had problems at school becomes clever and invents something important and useful for people. Bill Gates was excluded from the college and didn’t finish it. But he invented Microsoft and became a billionaire. Not everyone can do such things, it proves that they are extraordinary people.

Group 2. – “Need is the mother of invention.”

Suggested Answer:

Yes, we totally agree with it. Most of the time an invention is created because of a need. Many historians consider the wheel, the spear, the knife, and the arrow as the earliest inventions. They were created because of the need to hunt, provide protection and transportation. The earliest inventions were made out of what was available to the people. Wood was used for spears shafts. Rocks were used for the blade of a spear or a knife. Bones were used for needles. We need comfort and luxury in our life, so we need something new, which can make our lives easier, beautiful, more comfortable and luxurious.

Group 3. – Everything that can be invented has been invented.”
Suggested Answer:

No, we don’t agree with it. May be the things which are needed initially in life have already been invented, but not everything. Because as we live for long, so we need something new, more beautiful, more comfortable, more luxurious. As we develop our needs also develop further. That’s why we think that there will be much more new inventions in future that will be invented by us, by our children – the young generation which will improve the life condition.

VI. T: Watch a  presentation about future inventions.  Tell us about the inventions that you consider very important.  Which inventions are the most useful from your point of view? (3 groups.)

Gr. 1: Inventions that help people to be healthy, that makes the life expectancy for people longer are considered to be useful.

S2: e.g. The inventions that we need at school are bags or baskets for chewing gums, for plastic bottles, for junk food, which students buy in the nearby shops, but don’t eat and leave everywhere at school.

Gr. 2: We think that important inventions are those which will prolong the life of people, that will make our life easier, more comfortable, more beautiful, more luxurious.

S3: But we shouldn’t forget about some drawbacks of inventions: e.g. If there is no electricity, we can’t do anything, our girls even can’t do the washing up or clean the house without the vacuum cleaner, because they can’t even sweep. So we shouldn’t forget about the early inventions as a broom.

Gr. 3: Inventions which are useful in life are those that are needed and are in demand, that save our time, physical and mental strength, and everything should be done quickly and quality should be high.

VII. Conclusion.

T: Here in the picture you can see a tree without leaves. If you liked the lesson stick green stickers with your ideas, if you are not satisfied, noticed mistakes, didn’t like something, or you wanted to change something stick yellow stickers with your ideas.

Estimation “A tree of wish”.

T: People have invented a lot of useful things to make their lives more comfortable. Almost every day a new technique or product appears in the world. But we always need something more useful, more effective and more comfortable. If you could invent anything you like, what would it be?

Homework.  What Would You Like To Invent?  If you could  invent anything you like what would it be? To prepare a presentation.
