Тема: Travelling to
the UK, to London
Задачи: обучение всем видам речевой
деятельности: аудированию, говорению, чтению, письму (даётся в качестве
домашнего задания).
1) Организационный
момент (Разговор о дате, погоде, перечисление отсутствующих. Подведение
учащихся к определению темы урока через аудирование и презентацию).
Let’s start with this: I’m going to talk
for a while about today’s lesson’s topic, but I’m not going to name it right
away. Listen to me, please, and look at the pictures: then you will be able to
guess the topic of this lesson.
So, what is the topic of the lesson, in your opinion?
What shall we talk about on this lesson?
2) Речевая
зарядка: Do you like
travelling? Have you travelled to Moscow? Have you ever travelled abroad? When
do you usually travel?
3) Диалогическая
речь + аудирование.
A) Listen to the pupils talking about why they
would travel to the UK. (Двое учащихся
разыгрывают краткий диалог на тему причин путешествия в Великобританию)
После прослушивания диалога учащиеся, не принимавшие
в нём участия, отвечают на вопросы: Why would they travel to the UK?
What
kind of travelling do they like?
- Would you like to travel to the UK?
Why?
- I would travel to GB because I’d like
to meet new people, visit ancient castles, practice my English, go on
excursions. And what about you?
- I would visit GB because I will be able
to try English food, have a look at the famous red telephone boxes and have a
sightseeing tour on a double-decker bus.
- And do you like package holidays?
- Yes, I do, because as a rule they
include transport tickets, accommodation, meals and excursions. It is very
comfortable.
B ) These pupils want to visit some cities in
Great Britain. (вторая пара учащихся)
После прослушивания диалога учащиеся, не принимавшие
в нём участия, отвечают на вопросы: What cities do they want to visit?
What
shouldn’t they forget about?
- Have you ever travelled abroad?
- No, I haven’t.
- What country would you visit and why?
- I would visit Great Britain because I
have heard so much about Great Britain.
- What cities would you visit?
- I would visit London, the capital of
the UK and Edinburgh , the place of castles.
- What shouldn’t you forget before going
to Great Britain?
- By all means I shouldn’t forget a visa,
my passport and a customs declaration.
C) These pupils want to visit some places
in London. (третья пара учащихся)
После прослушивания диалога учащиеся, не принимавшие
в нём участия, отвечают на вопрос: What do they want to visit in London?
- Where are you going to travel on your holidays?
- I’m going to travel to Great Britain
with my parents.
I want to visit some sights in London.
- My advice is to visit the British
Museum, National Gallery and Westminster Abbey
- And besides I’d like to go to some pub
and eat fish and chips and play darts.
4) Игра.
So, pupils! You have already heard and read much about London. And I think you
know many sights there. Let’s play the game called “snowball” and remember these
sights.
(Ученики
называют основные достопримечательности Лондона).
5) Проверка

6) Обучение
монологу. All right! Now
let’s talk about London and Great Britain. What do you imagine when you think
about this city or this country? (Учащиеся выступают с
краткими монологами на тему своих представлений о Лондоне или Великобритании)

let’s move on to the next part of our lesson. This is the listening task.

So, we‘ve talked much
about GB and now we are going to read about holidays and tradition in this
country.

In Britain the New Year is not as widely celebrated
as Christmas. Some people ignore it completely and go to bed at usual time. Others,
however, do celebrate it in one way or another. The most common type of
celebration is a New Year party. There is a funny tradition connected with
the New Year: the First Foot. This is the first visitor to enter the house on
New Year‘s morning. He is the person of great importance. The first foot must
be a man because it is believed that if a woman first sets foot in the house,
bad luck will follow throughout the year. He may be a chance caller or a
person who comes on purpose to let the New Year into the house and bring good
luck to the family. Traditionally, the first visitor of the year must carry
food, drink and coal into the house. Coal helps to make a fire in midwinter
and there shall never be lack of food and drink during the coming year.

9) And now it’s time for a little project.
Let’s divide into 2 teams. The first team is going to show which cities of
Great Britain they would like to visit. The second team is going to show the
best sights in London for the visitors to see.
