Краткая аннотация:

Данный урок английского языка проводится в 11 классе по УМК В.П. Кузовлева “English 10-11”. Урок проводится в нетрадиционной форме, используется ролевая игра. Роли актеров и режиссера исполняют учащиеся, снявшиеся в фильмах. Перед проведением данного урока сняты на видео инсценированные на английском языке отрывки из произведений У.Шекспира «Гамлет» и «Ромео и Джульетта» и пародия на мюзикл «Красная Шапочка». Фотографии отдельных сцен из фильмов прилагаются.





ЦЕЛИ:

- развитие речевых умений;

- развитие воображения, творческих способностей учащихся, способности к осуществлению продуктивных речевых действий в различных ситуациях;

- формирование способности к коллективной работе в группе.

Оснащение: видеозапись сцен из трагедий У.Шекспира «Гамлет» и «Ромео и Джульетта» и мюзикл «Красная Шапочка», в которых снимались учащиеся класса.

План проведения ролевой игры:

  1. Вступительное слово ведущего церемонии «Золотой бобер» (учителя):

Ladies and gentlemen!

We are glad to meet you at the ceremony of giving “The Golden Beaver” awards to three films, which won the first places in the following nominations:

for creativity and imagination of the cast,

for the best acting in the leads,

for the best directing.

After watching the films we’d like the spectators to exchange their opinions about the films and we’d also like to listen to the directors and actors engaged in the films.

II. First comes the film “Hamlet”. Let’s watch the monologue “To be or not to be?” (просмотр видеозаписи) (Фотография №1)

T: The first question is to the script-writer: “Will you, please, tell us in short the plot of the tragedy?

Before the film begins, the king of Denmark has been murdered by his brother, Claudius, who then becomes king and marries the dead king’s widow. The ghost of the dead king visits his son, Prince Hamlet, and urges him to revenge the murderer. In the course of the film, Hamlet, a scholar, slowly convinces himself that he ought to murder Claudius. The film ends with a duel between Hamlet and the courtier Laertes, and the death by poison of all the principle characters.

T: The question to the director of the film, Shestakova Oksana: “What themes does the film deal with?”

  • The film reveals all the peculiarities of human nature – honesty and betrayal, nobleness and meanness, unselfishness and envy, love and hatred, selfishness and perfidity, passion and intellect. They are interrelated.

T: The question to Burgonov Artyom, who played the part of Hamlet: “What kind of man is Hamlet?”

  • Hamlet is the personification of a philosopher. His character has come to symbolize a person whose thoughtful nature is an obstacle to quick and decisive actions. Figuratively, Hamlet is a thinking man, full of doubts, plunged in meditations, who can’t make a decision. In his monologue Hamlet meditates over his most crucial question: “To be or not to be?” and comments:”to die – to sleep”, which means not to be afraid of death.

T: The question to the spectators:”How do you feel about the film? What does the film teach you?”

  • The film is tragic: evil is punished, but virtue doesn’t triumph as well.

  • The film has a dynamic action, an interesting and intriguing plot.

  • The film is characterized by clear-cut conflicts between good and evil.

  • Artyom was absolutely fantastic in the film.

  • The film is characterized by excellent camera work, good setting and talented actors.

II.T: The second film we are going to watch today is “Romeo and Juliet”. (Смотрим отрывок из фильма) (Фотография №2)

Will you, please, retell us the plot of the film in short?

The scriptwriter: In the town of Verona there were two rich families, the Capulets and the Montagues. There was an old quarrel between these two families. One day the Capulets had a great supper. At that supper Romeo saw Juliet and fell in love with her at once. Juliet had the same feelings. Romeo asked Juliet to marry him. She agreed, but nobody knew about their plan. The next day Romeo and Juliet came to the Friar and he married them.

Some days passed and Juliet’s father told her that she was to marry a young man whose name was Paris. Juliet didn’t know what to do. But the Friar helped her. He gave her medicine and told her to go home and be ready to marry Paris. But when she drank that medicine she will sleep for forty-two hours.

Juliet did as the Friar told her. Juliet’s parents thought that she was dead and put her in the family tomb. When Romeo heard that Juliet was dead he bought some poison and went to the tomb of the Capulets. Paris was there and Romeo killed him.

Then Romeo kissed Juliet on the lips and drank his poison. At this moment Juliet woke up and saw that the young man was dead. Juliet took a dagger that was on the floor and killed herself.

T: What kind of people are Romeo and Juliet?

  • Juliet is remarkable because she is so determined and mature. At the same time she has an innocence in her, she is young and fresh. She also makes her own decisions and takes fate into her own hands. For a woman, this was totally unheard of in Shakespeare’s time.

  • Juliet fell in love with Romeo. It seemed to her a wonderful birth of love, when, for family reasons alone, she ought to hate him. To avoid the marriage to Paris she drank the poisonous remedy which Friar Lawrence gave her.

  • I adore the episode when Romeo and Juliet confess each other in love. It’s so romantic!

  • Juliet deals with love and death and pushes herself to extremes. Her life is never “normal”. She is falling in love or defying her parents or taking sleeping portion or dying. Everything about her is real; it’s so heightening and dramatic!

  • Not only love but also wit, force of will and resolution are peculiar to Juliet.

  • The image of Romeo is characterized as a mixture of stormy impulses and unrestrained feelings. Only having loved Juliet Romeo has learned the force of genuine feeling and his love purchases heroic force.

T: What themes does the film deal with?

  • The film deals with the great themes of love, friendship, death, change and immortality. It is full of harmony and music. It praises love and beauty.

  • Romeo and Juliet” is a tragedy about two “star-crossed lovers” whose passionate love for each other ends in death because of the senseless feud between their families. The film is against feudal traditions which had become a barricade to the happiness of the people. A young and pure love of Romeo and Juliet won a victory over death.

  • The film expresses the idea that love is more important than kinship.

T: How do you feel about the film?

  • The film grabbed my attention from the first scene.

  • The images of the tragedy are depicted deeply.

  • In my opinion “Romeo and Juliet” is absolutely great.

  • What a marvelous film we saw! I think it’s very touching.

III. T: The third film we’ll see will entertain and amuse us. It is the musical “The Little Red Riding Hood”. (Просмотр фильма) (Фотография №3

T: The question to the director: “What does the film teach us?”

Director: It is very optimistic. It teaches you to overcome hardships, never lose your mind and give up in difficult situations. Besides, it teaches you to defend yourself if you are going to a new place alone.

T: The question to the actors: “What can you say about the images of the Wolf, Granny and Little Red Riding Hood?”

  • Little Red Riding Hood is a brave and clever girl. She is merry and smart. She likes wearing trendy clothes. She is fond of thrillers. Red Hood is a good pupil and she has a lot of friends. She used to wear a red cap at all times and her friends and relatives started to call her Little Red Riding Hood. To tell the truth, the cap suits her image and she looks really smart.

  • Granny is a healthy and energetic woman. She is not old at all. She is pretty and likes dancing. She plays tennis very well. She is fond of gardening and keeps fit. She prefers to live in the country because she hates noise and pollution of the city.

  • The Wolf is a real glutton. He is ill-mannered, he doesn’t like regulations, he is not obedient and he likes to offend people, if they are not very strong, of course. He doesn’t want to study. He quarrels with his friends and neighbours. He likes to frighten little children.

T: What impressions did the film make?

  • It has a lot of music and singing.

  • It makes you laugh.

  • It is so cheerful, magnificent and splendid.

  • The musical did impress me greatly.

  • I couldn’t stop laughing.

T: The musical “The Little Red Riding Hood is awarded “The Golden Beaver” awards in the nomination “For Creativity and Imagination”.

The tragedy “Romeo and Juliet” is given the award in the nomination “For the Best Acting”.

And the film ” Hamlet” deserves the award in the nomination “For the Best Directing”. (Награждение победителей фестиваля.)
