Look at the word squares on your desks

and find the words which you know.

Repeat them all together.

hospital, shop, street, church, metro)

- We’ll continue to talk about it but today

we’ll have unusual lesson.

Let’s learn new words and guess the type

with high walls, high towers, small

windows and large gardens.

It is on the north bank of the river Thames 

in central London.

It was founded in the end of 1066.

The white tower, was built by William

the Conqueror.

First it was a fortress, then a prison and

now it is a museum.

Tower of London.

The cathedral is one of the most famous

and most recognisable sights of London.

One of the oldest churches, St. Paul`s

Cathedral is not far from the Tower.

The famous English architect Sir

Christopher Wren built it.

The centre of London is Trafalgar

Square. The name commemorates

the Battle of Trafalgar(1805), a British

naval victory of the Napoleonic Wars 

over France.

In the middle of the square there is

Nelson's Column, which is 51 meters high.

At the bottom of the column there are four

bronze lions. There are two beautiful

fountains in the square.

They are in front of the National Gallery

which is one of the best picture galleries

of the world.

Madame Tussaud’s is the famous

waxworks museum.

It has one of the largest collections of

wax models in the world.

It was founded by wax sculptor Marie

Tussaud.

Madame Tussaud’s Museum consists of

several halls with wax images of famous

branches in Amsterdam, Bangkok, Berlin,

Dubai, Hong Kong, Moscow, New York

City and etc.

Buckingham Palace is the official London

residence and principal workplace of the 

British monarch.

It was built for the Duke Buckingham  in

Westminster.

Westminster Abbey is one of the most

famous and beautiful churchies in London.

It is the traditional place of coronation and

Sir Charles Barry started to build the

Houses of Parliament in 1840 in the

required ‘Gothic’ style. But the building

was finished 1860–70 by his son Edward

Middleton Barry (1830–80). The plan is

side of an axis.

The composition is picturesque due to the

Victoria Tower and the Clock Tower.

Краткое описание документа:

Разработка урока по теме «The sights of London» с использованием слайдовой презентации, основана на УМК  Биболетовой М.З. для 5 классаИспользование презентации помогает заинтересовать учащихся  и мотивировать их деятельность, с целью представления полученных на уроке знаний об известных местах Лондона. 

Урок проводится в форме экскурсии. Ученики сначала повторяют известные слова по теме,затем знакомятся с новыми. Далее учащимся предлагается список вопросов, на которые учащиеся должны ответить после прослушивания информации о самых известных достопримечательностях с опрой на текст, затем используя свои заметки и  на основе предоставленных учителем опор составляют высказывание о достопримечательности. В конце урока проводится тест с целью контроля усвоения материала.
