I.      ведущий: Today we celebrate one of the best holidays, which young and old people love. It is St. Valentine’s Day.

St. Valentine’s Day is a religious holiday, which is celebrated Great Britain, in many European countries and in the USA.

St. Valentine’s Day has roots in several legends. One of the early symbols of love is Cupid, the Roman God of  love who is represented by the image of a young boy with bow and arrow. Valentine was a Christian priest in Roman Empire three hundred years after death of  Jesus Christ. He had been thrown in prison for his teaching. On February 14, Valentine was beheaded, not only because he performed a miracle – he cured the jailer’s daughter from her blindness the night before he was executed – but he wrote a letter to her, signing it “From your Valentine”.

Dear friends, what legends about this day do you know? Please, tell them to us.

Ребята рассказывают другие версии легенды о святом Валентине.

1.     Another legend tells us that this same Valentine, well – loved by all, wrote notes from his jail to children and friends who missed him.

2.     Another Valentine was an Italian bishop who lived at about the same time. He was imprisoned because he secretly married couples, contrary to laws of Roman emperor.

3.      February 14 was  also a Roman holiday, held in honour of the Goddess of  love. Young men by lottery chose the name of a young girl to escort to the festivities. The custom of choosing a sweetheart on this date was continued to our day. People still believe that birds pick their mates (male or female) on February 14.

II.    Для игры ведущий предлагает выбрать три пары с помощью половинки сердца. Пары проходят на те места, где обычно проходят свидания (под часами, в кафе, у памятника).

III.  Конкурсы и викторина.

1. Девочка и мальчик представляются друг другу.

2. Конкурс открыток. Пары изготавливают открытку с пожеланиями на английском языке:

3. Во время изготовления открыток проводится викторина среди болельщиков.

What do you know about St. Valentine’s Day?

-         Who was Valentine, who lived three hundred years after the death of Jesus Christ in the Roman Empire?  (A Christian priest)

-         What did he do the night before he was executed? (He wrote the jailer’s daughter a farewell letter signing of “From your Valentine”)

-         What holiday did people celebrate in Rome many years ago? (A Roman holiday, held in honour of the Goddess of love).

-         What is St. Valentine’s Day now? (It is a day for sweethearts).

-         What can you do on this day? (Send a postcard with the words of love to any person, bake a special cake, make a special present in the form of a heart, send roses, “Valentines” and greetings).

-         How do American children celebrate this holiday at schools? (On February 14^th the teacher opens the box and gives the Valentines to each pupil, they have a small party with refreshments).

She was standing in the door,

Her shoes and stockings in her hand,

Her feet all over floor.

I wish I was an apple

A hanging on a tree,

Every time that Cindy passed

She’s take a bite of me.

5. Открытки готовы – жюри подводит итоги.

6. Well, thank you very much. And now I ask the boys to make a heart out of this balloon and give it to your sweetheart. The fisist one will be the winner. (Мальчики надувают шарики).

7. Конкурс для девочек – развязать коробку с лентой, завязанной множеством узлов, и угостить своего мальчика. Кто первый – тот победитель.

       Конкурс – составить слова из St. Valentine’s Day.

8. Девочки и мальчики стоят напротив друг друга на расстоянии десяти шагов. Они делают друг другу комплименты на каждый шаг, пока не встретятся. Например: my sweet, my joy, you are beautiful …

9. Конкурс – подарить цветы своей девушке. Трактовка цветов объясняется.

Трактовка цветов:

Сирень белая (white lilac) – Let’s love each other!

Сирень фиолетовая (violet lilac) – My heart belongs to you.

Колокольчик (bluebell) – Why do you make me suffer?

Гвоздика красная (red commotion) – I can’t live without you.

Красная роза (red rose) – I adore you.

Астра (aster) – I love you more than you love me.

Розовая роза (pink rose) – I hide my fulings.

Розовый цветок (pink flower) – My thoughts are about you.

A lilac flower – you are my sweetheart.

Оранжевая роза (orange rose) – you are tender

10. Конкурс изобразить ситуацию, заказанную на листочке: (Love is ..)

Любовь – это когда от сердца кружится голова.

Любовь – это чувство, от которого поднимается температура.

Любовь – это желание броситься друг другу в объятия.

11. Танцевальный конкурс. На газете пара танцует под разную музыку, газета складывает в двое, втрое и т.д.
