THE ABC PARTY

For young learners

A GIRL: Good morning, dear guests, fathers and mothers, grandmothers and grandfathers, teachers and pupils!

A BOY: We are very glad to see you in our school hall because our party is dedicated to the ABC.

A GIRL: If you know the ABC, you can read books, write letters and words.

A BOY: You can sing English songs and recite poems in English. Do you know that the ABC has 26 capital and small letters?

A GIRL: I think you do. So, now you can see them all on this stage.

A BOY: Here they are our letters, the ABC brothers and sisters.

(The comperes invite 26 letters of the ABC onto the stage.)

ALL THE LETTERS (singing a song):

Good morning to you! (Twice)

We' re all in our places

With sunshiny faces.

ONE OF THE LETTERS: Hello! We are very happy to meet you.

THE 2ND LETTER: And if you know the ABC very well, let's sing the "ABC SONG".

ALL TOGETHER (singing):

WXYZ

Now I know my ABCs.

If you know it sing with me.

A GIRL: We know the letters as all of you see,

And we'll say 'good-bye' to the ABC.

A BOY: All children like to sing songs and now comes the song "What is your name?"

(The children are being divided into two groups. The groups are standing in front of each other.)

THE 1st GROUP

  1. What is your name? (Twice)
    Now tell me, please,
    What is your name?

  2. How old are you? (Twice)
    Now tell me, please,
    How old are you?

  3. Where do you live? (Twice)
    Now tell me, please,
    Where do you live?

THE 2ND GROUP

My name is Helen. (3 times)

That's my name.

I'll soon be seven. (3 times)

That's my age.

I live in Gorlovka (3 times)

That's where I live.

A GIRL: We know many poems in English. Some of them are about family.

ONE OF THE LETTERS:

  1. This is my father.

This is my mother.

This is my sister.

This is my brother.

Father, mother, sister, brother

Hand in hand with one another.

  1. Some families are large.
    Some families are small.
    But I love my family
    Best of all!

  1. I love Mommy, she loves me.
We love Daddy, yes, we do!
He loves us and so you see,
    We’re a Happy Family!

A BOY:Some poems are about school.

ONE OF THE LETTERS:

  1. I am a pupil.

He is a pupil.

She is a pupil, too.

I am a pupil.

You are a teacher.

We love you.

  1. My school is cool
    And it is full
    Of many girls and boys,
    Who make much noise
    But have a choice
    To play all time
    Or learn a rhyme,
    Or read a book,
    To sew or cook.
    We love school all
    And wait for fall
    To meet together here,
    To teach and study near.

A GIRL: This year we have learned how to name colours in English. And now we offer you "The Colours of the Rainbow", a nice song to listen to.

PUPILS:

1. Sun and Rain and Rain and Sun —They make a rainbow.

Sun and Rain, Rain and Sun — A rainbow in the sky.

CHORUS:

The colours of the rainbow are all around me.

The colours of the rainbow are beautiful to see.

2. Red is the colour of an apple,

Red is the colour of a sweet strawberry.

3. Orange is the colour of a juicy orange,
Orange is the colour of a tiger stripe.

4. Yellow is the colour of a sour lemon.
Yellow is the colour of the summer Sun.

5. Green is the colour of the fresh grass.
Green is the colour of the leaves on the trees.

6. Blue is the colour of a clear sky.
Blue is the colour of the water in the sea.

7. Violet is the colour of a plum.
Violet is the colour of lilacs in spring.

A BOY: We know a lot about animals and birds. They are our best friends too. We love them all.

A GIRL: So we learned many poems about animals, too. Here they are.

PUPIL 1: I have a little dog, and his name is Jack.

His head is white, and his ears are black.

PUPIL 2: I have a little pussy, and her coat is grey.

She lives in my house, and she never runs away.

PUPIL 3: Butterfly, butterfly, where do you fly,

So quick and so high in the blue, blue sky?

PUPIL 4: The little green frog jumps on a log,

Takes off his cloak and begins to croak!

PUPIL 5: Tomorrow on Sunday we go to the Zoo.

Tomorrow, tomorrow, we go to the Zoo.

There is a giraffe there, and a zebra, too,

A bear, and a monkey, and a kangaroo.

PUPIL 6: Today, when I was at the Zoo,

I watched the mother kangaroo.

Inside her skin she has a pocket.

She puts her baby there to rock it.

A GIRL: The letters of the ABC are our best friends. They help us to read books.

A BOY: I hope you like to look in a book. I hope you like to read a good book.

ALL THE LETTERS TOGETHER

Make new friends, but keep the old.

One is silver, and the other gold.

CHILDREN

The more we are together,

The more we are together,

The happier we shall be.

For your friends are my friends,

And my friends are your friends,

The more we are together,

The happier we shall be.

We made friends with the ABC.

We can read, we can write.

We can sing, we can dance,

We can speak English, too.

No more lessons for today.
