READING

Task 1

Make one text putting the paragraphs (A – E) into the correct order from 11 – 15 in your answer sheet.

Soon the dog came to a small river running through the field. There was a bridge. The dog walked on the bridge, stopped there for some time and looked into the water. He saw another dog in the water. The other dog had a big piece of meat in his teeth too.

Where is the other dog?” he asked himself. “Where is his big piece of meat? Where is my piece of meat?”

A dog walked along a road over a field. He carried a big piece of meat in his teeth. He wanted to eat it in the field, far from other dogs.

Task 3

For questions 21-25 read about the kinds of sports. Then read the names of these sports. Decide which description belongs to each kind of sports. Write the correct letter (A - F) in your answer sheet. There is one extra kind of sport you do not need to use.

21. Two teams use wood sticks to run a rubber (a ball or a puck), to score a goal. As the game is very quick and intensive, the players change often. The game is rather dangerous. The players wear uniforms that weigh several kilograms and save them (the players) from painful falls on the ice, hits with the wood sticks and skates, etc. Still many people find it exciting and prefer it to other sports and games.

22. It makes you quick and active. You will jump well and have a good eye. It also cures you of the fear of falling down. Two teams hit the ball over the net mostly with their hands and try to return the ball before it touches the ground.

23. This game comes from England. The matches are continuous long, so the athletes must be strong to play for a long time and not get tired. They hit the ball with the racket over the net and try to reach and return it. The balls get holes very quickly and often fly away. That is why there must be several of them before the game.

24. Its name translates as the gentle way. This sport came from the Far East. You learn to react and move quickly. You hold and throw your opponent. The sport’s philosophy teaches you to respect yourself and others. As there is not much equipment, it is not expensive.

25. This sport is very hard and dangerous. Most people cannot understand the joy of it. But those who practice it say they enjoy it because they have to overcome difficulties together with their friends, because they can feel their power and also because they can enjoy most beautiful breathtaking panoramas.

Bad Temper
