Washington, the capital of the USA, was founded in 1791.

The city was named after the first president George Washington.

The population of the city is nearly three million people.

The Capitol is the centre of the city.

It was built according to the plans of William Thornton, who was an amateur architect.

It is situated on Capitol Hill.

The White House is the place where the president of the USA lives and works.

This house was first occupied in 1800 by John Adams, who was the first president to live in that house.

The White House has 132 rooms.

Washington has many sights, for ex-ample, the Library of Congress, the Lincoln memorial, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and others.

The National Gallery of Arts contains art collections by the great masters of the 14th to 18th centuries.

The Library of Congress contains millions of books and manuscripts.

Outside the city the Arlington National Cemetery is situated.

John Kennedy was buried there.

The famous Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is also situated there.

The industry of the city is not well developed.

But Washington is a large scientific and cultural centre.

Many research and designing institutes are concentrated here.

There are five universities in the city and the National Academy of Sciences.

In Washington it is also difficult to find a park or a square without a monument.

My School Day

On Monday I usually wake up late and have no time to eat my breakfast. I can't find my books and my school cap. At last I find my books in the bathroom and find my cap - my dog. Pal. likes to play with it. I have to wait ages for a bus and I am nearly late for school. I enter the classroom when our class-teacher begins to call out the registerThe first lesson on Monday morning is maths. Mr. Bailey, the maths teacher, collects our homework and then gives us some sums to do.

The next lesson is French. I like French. It's nice to be able to talk to somebody in another language.At last it is eleven o'clock: time for break. A girl, whose name is Susan, gives me a piece of cake to eat with my milk. She allows me to copy her Latin homework, because I don't know how to do it.After break we have two lessons of Latin. There are a lot of boys in our class who don't like Latin. I don't like it either. At half past twelve it is time for lunch: a meat pie, boiled potatoes or cabbage and a glass of juice or milk.Then I go into the playground with my friends. We play football there.After lunch we have a history lesson. The history teacher tells us many interesting things.After school my friends and I usually go for a walk. I come home very late, and my mother is very angry.In the evening I do my homework. Now I cannot do my homework - there is an interesting programme on television. I think I can do it tomorrow, during break.

London

London is the capital of Great Britain. It stands on the river Thames and stretches (1) for over thirty miles from east to west. London is an ancient (2) city. It was founded more than two thousand years ago.
   Its population is over 8 million people. London is the biggest industrial and cultural centre of Great Britain.
   London is a great port. Today over 50,000 ships come to London daily (3).
   Traditionally London is divided into several parts: the City, the West End, the East End and the Westminster Abbey.
   In London one meets the past and the present, the old and the modem. It is a city of contrasts. It has many wonderful places of interests.
   Trafalgar square (4) is the centre of London. The Nelson Column in the middle of the square particularly (5) impresses (6) tourists. It is 185 feet high. From Trafalgar Square you can go down the Whitehall and see the Houses of Parliament which stand in Parliament Square. The Houses of Parliament (7) is a long building that stretches for about 1000 feet. At one end is the famous Big Ben.
   Behind it there is the Thames and the Westminster Bridge. Opposite the Houses of Parliament stands the Westminster Abbey (8), famous for its architecture and history. Nearly all kings and queens have been crowned in the Abbey. G. Chaucer, Ed. Spencer, Lord Tennyson, Ch. Dickens and many other famous men and writers were buried there. In the Poet's corner there are memorials to W. Shakespeare, J. Milton, R. Burns, G. G. Byron and many other poets and writers. The Westminster Abbey is a beautiful chapel (9). Another place, which can impress you most, is Buckingham Palace. It is the residence of the Queen.
   The other parts of London are the rich West End, the poor East End and the City (10)— its financial centre. The City of London is in size very small, it is only one square mile in area but is the most important banking and commercial centre of the country. The Tower of London is situated in the City, and it comes first among the historic buildings of London. St Paul's Cathedral (11), the greatest of English churches, is situated not far from the Tower. Sir Christopher Wren (12) rebuilt it after theGreat Fire (13) of London.
   One of London's attractions (14) is its parks. The most famous among them is the Hyde Park.
   We can't describe all the places of interest. The best way to know London is to visit it.

China is recovering from the soft-patch earlier this year. Low inflation gives the authorities plenty of options to give the economy a helping hand if the new targets of slower but more balanced growth risk too great a slowdown, or in response to emerging market problems as the Fed tapers.

The first batch of Chinese data this week were encouraging. Exports rose 7.2% yoy, up from 5.1% in July, beating consensus expectations of 5.5% yoy. Imports undershot consensus expectations, rising 7.0% yoy, down from 10.9% in July and below the 11.3% consensus expected. Import growth has picked up since the early summer and is roughly in line with its average so far this year, signalling Chinese domestic demand is expanding steadily if unspectacularly. Inflation was 2.6% in August with producer prices pointing to subdued pipeline inflation pressures.

Japan

Abe’s first two arrows of monetary and fiscal stimulus are hitting their target. The big test is how straight and true his third arrow of structural reform flies. The signs so far have been disappointing, raising the risks that this spurt of growth in Japan will fizzle out after a year or two. Still, Abe has the opportunity to announce root and branch reforms that would increase competition in parts of Japan’s closeted economy and unleash better productivity growth. Italian politics

A committee of the Italian Senate will start discussing today whether to evict the convicted tax fraudster Berlusconi from the Senate. Berlusconi has repeatedly threatened to withdraw his centre-left party from the ruling coalition in that case. So the risk that the Letta government may fall and that Italy might even need new elections could now possibly materialise any day. If it came to a vote in the Senate, the centre-left would likely vote against Berlusconi. But we see a chance that they agree to delay the vote, for instance to ponder legal arguments that the law mandating the expulsion of a convicted fraudster may not apply to Berlusconi because the law was passed well after Berlusconi's tax fraud

The Republic of Kazakhstan is situated in the central part of the Euro- Asian continent. The area is 2753000 square kilometers. Its territory stretches from West to East for 3000 km and from North to South for 1600 km. In the West, Northwest and North Kazakhstan borders on the Russian Federation. In the South and Southwest are the Republics of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. In the Southeast and East, there is China. 
Kazakhstan consists of 14 regions, 223 districts. There are 83 cities and 204 townships. The main cities are Astana, Aktobe, Atyrau, Taraz, Pavlodar, Karagand
andKostanai. 
The population of Kazakhstan is 15 million people. People of 120 nationalities live in the country. Kazakh is the state language but Russian is officially used on an equal basis with Kazakh.
 
In December 1991 a new independent country – The Republic of Kazakhstan – joined the World Community. The 16 th of December is now celebrated as an Independence Day of Kazakhstan. The Republic of Kazakhstan is a unitary country with a presidential form of the Government. The first president of Kazakhstan is N.A.Nazarbayev. He became the first president in April 1990.
 
Kazakhstan is rich in mineral resourses oil, copper, zinc, gold and silver. Mining, machinery manufacture, the production of petro – chemicals and agriculture are important sectors of the economy. The people of the country grow grain, fruit, cotton,millet,corn.
 
The Republic of Kazakhstan has played a great role in the history and development of the Central Asia. In 1957, the first satellite was short into space from the Baikonur Space Centre, which lies in the steppeland of Kazakhstan.
 
The Republic of Kazakhstan is a member of eleven international organizations including United Nation, UNESCO, UNICEFIM
and others.
