Ход урока:
-
The world knows the names of many
famous persons: mathematicians, historians, writers, singers and many others.
We remember and we are proud of their contribution to learning and our life. I
think each person wants to gain this goal but you need a lot of talent to be
famous. I believe you know a lot of them in Russia and in other countries.
That’s way I’d like to ask you some questions at the beginning of our lesson:
-
Do you know any famous people? Who
are they?
-
What are they famous for?
-
Who are you proud of? Why?
-
What do you know about Royal
Family?
-
Have you heard about Diana?
-
What do you know about her?
(Students`
answers)
- And today I’d like to let you know more about her.
Well, will you look at her portrait. What does she look like? What can you tell
me about her, about her eyes, her smile?
(Students` answers)
- Well, I think you’ll learn much more about her
with the help of this lesson. First of all I’d like you to look at the
blackboard. You can see some words you’ll come across in the text I’d like you
to read them now. Read the verbs and match them with their translations.
(On the
blackboard):
to die говорить
to divorce называть
to watch умирать
to study любить
to marry разводиться
to continue
учиться
to return
жениться (выходить замуж)
to love продолжать
to say работать
to work продолжать
to care завершать
to complete появляться
to call
возвращаться
to appear
смотреть
- Good for you! And now I want to ask you to put these
verbs into the Past Simple.
Why into this tense? Because we are going to use these
verbs doing the next task.
(Students` answers)
- Now you are ready to read the text about Diana’s
biography and fill in the gaps with the correct verbs.
(Students are given the cards with the text and some minutes to do it.
This task may also be done as a reading task. Students may be asked to read the
text and fill in the gaps at the same time.)
Read Diana’s biography and fill in the gaps with the
correct verbs.
Died, divorced, watched, studied, married,
continued, returned, loved, worked, carried, completed, called, appeared.

- You are lucky today. You have a chance
not only to read and to talk about Diana but also to see the Royal Family. I’d
like to show you a fragment of the film about Diana’s wedding. I just want you
to see this exciting ceremony and pay attention to Diana.

that your homework will help you to do it. Your task will be to tell me
everything what you know about Diana using the second card I’ve given to you
and extra material which you should find.
(At the end of the lesson if you have some time you can
play an educational game with your students “ A snowball”)

-

if you were famous?
(Students

honest, responsible, help people, love my family etc. A teacher writes on the
blackboard: If I were famous I would…. Students should complete this
sentence. The first student completes the sentence with his/her phrase. The
second one repeats it and says the same sentence with his/her phrase. The last
