Phonetic drill

The theme of our lesson is “Transport in London”. Today we have a new topic " Transport in London" many people like traveling, of course they use transport. What means of transport do you know? Read description of some transport.

I group

You can reach England either by plane, by train, by car or by ship. The fastest way is by plane. London has three international airports. Heathrow is London's major airport. It opened in 1929 as a small base for flight test and became an international airport in 1946. Gatwick is London's second airport after Heathrow. It opened in 1930. Stansted is London's third airport. It's 30 miles of north of London. It opened in 1942 as a base for the American Air Force during the second World War.

The fastest way to traveling is by taxi. London taxis are driven by the best drives in the world; each has to pass exam to prove he has detailed knowledge of the city before receiving a license. Their special shape and black colour are famous all over the world. The black cabs as they are called have became the symbol of London. London drivers have green badges on their jackets.


II group

When you are in London you can choose from four different means of transport: bus, train, underground or taxi. The typical bus in London is a red Double -decker. The first London Bus started running between ; line-height: 100%">The next to arrive were the trains: now there are 12 railway stations in London. The world's first underground line was opened between Baker St and the City in 1863. Now there are ten underground lines and 273 underground stations in use. the London underground is also called the Tube, because of the circular shape of its deep tunnels.

People travel around on the back of an elephant. 6. The elephants go to a training camp where they learn how to carry passengers safely. 7. Traveling by an elephant taxi is not very comfortable, because it’s very bumpy!
