Aims: To enable students to participate in social conversations and ask for and give directions successfully.
Objectives: By the end of the lesson students will be able to

Type of the lesson: Topic umbrella lesson
Content: The lesson contains warm-up, L, S, W activities and activities stimulating critical thinking and communication.
Materials: laptop, blackboard, handouts and cards.
Organizational moment: The lesson is started with greetings and a warm-up activity to create non-threatening, relaxing atmosphere.
Warm-up: (2 min)
Brainstorming “Places in the city”
Think of and write 3 places that every city on the planet has in it.
Making an association chain
Video track “Describing places and landmarks” (02:25)
(While showing the video, the teacher will explain new words)
Animated video by nusha_1103 “Giving directions” (01:15)
New words: roundabout turn right/left go straight on go past traffic lights

Make up your own dialogue of asking and giving direction on the basis of the animated video
Game “Where is the …?” (3-4 min)
Procedure: The teacher throws the ball to a student asking for direction to a place, then the student answers and throws the ball to the another student to continue giving direction and this process will go on till the last student completes and tells where it is situated.
