Procedure of the lesson
1. Organization moment.
T:- Good morning, dear pupils!
- How are you today?
- I am very glad to see you and hope that you are ready for the lesson.
Now, on your desks you can see pictures of different moods. You can choose one which really shows how you are feeling at the moment. You can put a tick in front of it.
2. Checking up the home task:
- Who is on duty today?
- What date is it today? Who is absent today?
- What was your home task for today?
- Let’s check up your home task. Who is ready for the lesson?
T: Look at the blackboard, please. There are some pictures on the blackboard. What do you think of these pictures? Name them, please.
P: Lemon, pomegranate, bread, eggs, nuts, cabbage.
T: When do we use them? Yes, you are right. They are good for our health. And today we’ll speak about good and bad health habits. Is there anything more important than health? How do you think?
P: No, there isn’t. Health is very important for us.
T: Taking vitamins is important for our health. Do you agree?
P: Yes, we do. We must take vitamins in spring and winter.
T: Today I’ll give you vitamins for each right answer. Write down the date and the title of our new theme, please.
4. Work with the pictures.
Look at the pictures on the blackboard. You must name each picture and say "good health habit” or "bad health habit”.
P: Drinking alcohol – a bad health habit. Eating fruit – a good health habit. Biting nails – a bad health habit. Brushing teeth – a good health habit.
5. Vocabulary of the new theme.
There are good and bad health habits. Read these words and divide them into 2 groups.
Good habit Bad habit
smoking, healthy diet, do sports, eating sweets, drinking alcohol, eating breakfast, eating fruits, eating vegetables, taking drugs, thumb sucking, sleeping too much or too little, regular meals, biting nails, brushing teeth, getting up early, going to bed early, eating fat food, exercising, taking vitamins, etc.
6. Work with the texts.
a) Read the story.
We live in the XXI century. XXI century is a century of new technologies. Nowadays there are many new inventions in the world. We use them almost every day.
One of the most useful of new inventions which we need every day is computer. Today every person in the world can use it. We can send e-mails and receive them, talk to our friends and relatives who live far from us, print our documents, get the information from the internet, etc.
If we sit up late working on a computer, it can damage our eyesight. Every person who sits in front of the computer for a long hours become lazy and waste their time. And parents should check their children when they use computer because pupils can watch bad videos and pictures on it.
b) What are the advantages and disadvantages of having a computer?
P: We can get a lot of information.
P: But it damages our eyes. P: We may sleep in front of the computer if we sit up late and it becomes our regularly habit. P: We become lazy and sometimes forget to do our homework.
c) You are going to read a story about a computer addict Erlan.
d) Answer these questions: What is the text about?
Where did he learn how to use a computer?
Did his parents buy him a computer?
Why had he become a computer addict?
How did Erlan understand that a computer is dangerous for his health?
Is he a computer addict now?
e) Role play: Erlan, Erlan’s parents, doctor.
f) What advice would you give to Erlan? You may use : You should …
7. Physical moment.
Are you tired? Let’s sing a Song "If you are happy … ” .
8. Proverbs about health.
There are some proverbs about health. Can you explain them in your native language?
1)An apple a day keeps the doctor away. 2)Health is above wealth. Health is better than wealth. 3)Bread is staff of life. 4)Sound mind in a sound body.
9. Relaxing moment.
Let’s have a rest, pupils. Come to the blackboard and stand in a circle, please. I want to give you this apple. Take this "magic” apple – a symbol of health. Pass it to your classmate next to you with good words to him or her.
