Our Pets ((М. З. Биболетова «Enjoy English-5-6»)

Цель: развитие речевых умений по теме “Домашние животные”.

Задачи урока:

1. Практические: 
а) развивать умения монологической и диалогической речи; 
в) развивать умения чтения с извлечением необходимой информации.

2. Развивающие: 
а) развивать языковые и познавательные способности; 
б) учить учащихся анализировать, делать выводы.

3. Образовательные: расширить кругозор учащихся по данной теме.

4. Воспитательные:

  1. формировать способности к коллективной работе в группе;

  2. прививать любовь к животным.

Оборудование: доска, наглядный материал (карточки со словами для кластера), листы бумаги, фломастеры.

Ход урока:

1. Сообщение цели урока.

T. Good morning, boys and girls. I'm glad to see you. Today we'll speak about animals in our life. You’ll read the text, ask and answer questions. You’ll learn much information about animals. I hope the lesson will be interesting for you and you will enjoy it. Let's start.

2. Речевая зарядка.

T. At home you have read the text “Pet’s names”. Are you ready to answer my questions?

  • What is the text about?

  • Who is Diamond?

  • Whose pet was it?

  • What is Diamond famous for?

  • Who is Prim?

  • Whose pet was it?

  • Did Byron write about Prim in his poems?

  • What pet’s names are the most popular in Great Britain?

  • What pet’s names are popular in your group? S., please. It was your individual task.

3. Развитие умения чтения с извлечением необходимой информации.

Now you work in groups. I divide you in two groups: 1 – cats, 2 – dogs. You read the text “Our Pets”. The first group finds information about cats, the second group – about dogs. Do the poster and tell about it. (Приложение 1)

4. Систематизация лексики по теме “Our Pets”.

At previous lesson we began to do cluster about pets. Let’s continue. We have the first column – pets; the second – pet’s names. I suggest you the third – What are they; the fourth – What do they do; the fifth – What do we do with pets.

5. Развитие умения диалогической речи.

T. Our pets live near us in the house. We love them. Do you agree with me? Let’s talk about our pets in pairs. One of you is an interviewer and has to find out some information about your pet.

Are animals very important for people?
What do animals give for people?
Do you have a pet at home?
What is pet’s name?
What does your pet eat?
What can it do?
Who looks after your pet?
Why do people talk about animals?
Should we take care of any animal?

6. Рефлексия.


Т. Now think about the topic of the lesson and write a Japanese poem (синквейн).

What do you think about pets? What association do you have?

Let’s make up cinquains about pets. Do you remember what is it?

It is a kind of poem. It consists of 5 lines (a general word, two adjectives on the topic, three verbs, the main idea of your “poem” (3–4 words) and a synonym of the general word). Make up as many cinquains as you can. Read them aloud when you are ready.

7. Домашнее задание. Итоги урока.

Write the letter to your friend about your pet.

We love our pets.

We love our pets. Animals are our best friends and members of the family. In this country, you will find special cemeteries for animals. Our animals are always there for us and we are always there for them.

These are our cats. We have three cats: Wally, Blacky and Mother. Mother is the oldest and the biggest. She is a great hunter! She hunts ever night. Wally is nice and kind. He comes to me in the evening, because he loves to sleep in my bed. Blacky is a hooligan. He sleeps in the dogs' beds. The cats live in the house, but we don't see them very often. They like to play outside, but they are never late for lunch. Very often they come with their friends from the street. I love cats because they are very beautiful and independent.

And these are our dogs Fourby and Henry. Fourby is half collie and half spaniel. She comes from a rescue home This organization helps homeless dogs and looks for a new home for them. Thanks to rescue homes, there are no homeless dogs on the streets. In England, people rarely buy puppies: they go to rescue homes and find a dog there. Fourby's name comes from the number on her cage in the rescue home — 4B (Fourby). She is the kindest dog in the world and loves our cats!

Fourby's best friend is Henry. He is a Labrador. Labradors are very special dogs: they are kind and clever. Our Henry has an easy life: he plays in the garden and sleeps on the sofa, but many Labradors have real jobs. They are guide dogs. Guide dogs get special training and help blind people. With a guide dog, blind people can walk to the bank or the supermarket. It's safe for them.
