Washington

            Washington named after George Washington, the first President of the United States. Washington is situated on the Potomac River in the District of Columbia.

Washington is the capital of the USA. It has about 900 000 inhabitants.
            The air is toxic from exhaust fumes in Washington. The water in Potomac is polluted.

 Sights of Washington are the National Museum of History, the National Museum of Natural History, the  National Gallery of Art, The Library of Congress.

The  best-known of monuments are the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument. The Washington Monument is the highest structure of the city. The oldest building in Washington is the White House, the official residence of the President.

The Golden State California

California is the richest state of the USA. It is also called the Golden State.

            The main cities are Los Angeles, San Francisco, Santa Barbara, San Diego.

It is the third biggest state of the USA after Alaska and Texas. State population is about 35, 000,000

            The largest City of California is Los Angeles, which is the 2nd largest city in the USA after New York city.
            In 2003 the Governor of the state California became the well-known actor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

 The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco is one of the most famous bridges.

California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento is the largest old attraction in Sacramento.

Lake Tahoe is one of the biggest lakes with fresh water.

Yosemite National Park is one of the most beautiful natural places on the planet. It has 3 of the 10 tallest waterfalls on earth.

New York

New York is the largest city in the USA and the biggest seaport. It is the business centre of the United States. New York is situated  on the Hudson river. It was founded in 1613.   

There are five districts in the city: Manhattan, the Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn and Richmond. Manhattan is the district of business.

Its population is 16 million people.

            The Statue of Liberty is an examples of "old" architecture in New York. Everywhere you can see sky-scrapers.
      New York has many museums and art galleries. Most of the theatres and cinemas are in Broadway. Broadway is the longest street and the biggest shopping district in New York.

Цель урока:

·                     Совершенствовать речевые умения и языковые навыки учащихся.

·                     Расширять кругозор учащихся, их представление об истории, географическом положении Соединенных Штатов Америки.

Задачи урока:

Обучающие:

·                     обучение  монологической речи на основе тематической лексики; формирование лингвострановедческой компетенции;

·                     совершенствование этических норм общения и развитие эстетического восприятия действительности.

Развивающая: Развитие коммуникативных навыков.

Воспитывающая: Формировать у учащихся интерес и уважение к культуре и народу страны изучаемого языка.

We are going to sing the official song of the USA “America, the Beautiful”. But first of all, please, repeat the word after me. - Now let’s sing it together! – Well done!	Поют все вместе (на экране слова песни).
Работа над темой урока (1-2 минуты).	– Did you guess what the theme of our lesson is? – Right, the theme of the lesson is “The USA today?”	Дают варианты ответов.
Викторина “Путешествуем по США” (15 минут).	– I know that all of you like travelling, and we are starting our travel across the United States of America. You are divided into three teams. I’ll give you the texts about the states of America. You should read it. Then you should complete the poster about every state. There is a plan: 1.      The name of the state 2.      The main city 3.      Population 4.      Sightseeing 5.      Other interesting information.	Каждая команда получает текст и работает с ним.
