Let’s summarise everything you have said.

Why did I begin our lesson from this quotation

P. To my mind travelling is exciting, because when we travel, we have a chance to change our style of life, to visit new places and of course to see different places and places of interest, we learn more about the traditions and customs of this place. When you travel, you meet different people and make friends.

Travelling abroad helps us to study foreign languages, speaking with native people. In general travelling develops our outlook.

P. May be we shall travel today?

Yes, you are quite right. We shall make an imaginary trip to one of the English-speaking countries. By the way, what English-speaking countries do you know?

Great Britain. India.

New Zealand. Australia. Canada. USA.

Some African countries

By the way, what do you know about Scotland? Let's read the text about Scotland.?

Scotland is a part of Great Britain. There is a saying: "He who has not been to Scotland does not really know Great Britain". This is a land of romance and it has a most eventful history. Almost all of Scotland's history is associated and reflected in many castles and forts that are to be seen all over the country: Scotland is divided into two parts: the Highlands and the Lowlands. For centuries the Highlands were a strange land where the King's law wasn't even known, where wild men spoke a language no one could understand. Nature is very beautiful in the Highlands. Loch Lomond is the most beautiful of all the lochs in Scotland. Ben Nevis is the highest mountain in Britain.

Most of the industry in Scotland is concentrated in Lowlands in the Clyde Valley. Glasgow is its largest and busiest town, Edinburgh is its capital. Glasgow and Edinburgh are the two great centers of Scotland. There is only 45 miles between them. And it will take you about an hour to get from Glasgow to Edinburgh by train, but the cities are very different, Glasgow is the heart of industry. It is a center of business and trade. It is very busy and prosperous; it is beautiful and ugly with its large port and busy streets. Edinburgh is rather cold but attractive, very proud but friendly and had a great past. Edinburgh is known as Athens of the North. It is an Ancient city if you walk around it you can touch on history at every step. Practically every building has a tale to tell.

They recite his poems, sing his songs. I'd like to recite his poem.

My heart's in the Highlands, my heart is not here, My heart's in the Highlands a-chasing the deer - A-chasing the wild deer, and following the roe; My heart's in the Highlands, wherever I go.
Farewell to the Highlands, farewell to the North
The birth place of Valour, the country of Worth;
Wherever I wander, wherever I rove,
The hills of the Highlands for ever I love.
Farewell to the mountains high cover'd with snow;
Farewell to the straths and green valleys below;
Farewell to the forrests and wild-hanging woods;
Farwell to the torrents and loud-pouring floods.
My heart's in the Highlands, my heart is not here,
My heart's in the Highlands a-chasing the deer
Chasing the wild deer, and following the roe;
My heart's in the Highlands, wherever I go.

This country is worth seeing.

Let’s look at our project works.

Welcome to Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. It is the city for people who like to walk. You are never far from green parks, gardens and hills even in the main shopping streets. It is a busy modern city, but history is everywhere. At the top of the highest hill in Edinburgh is Edinburgh Castle. Soldier have marched through its gates for nearly a thousand years. It was the home of Scotland's royal family until the year 1603 when King James the Sixth of Scotland became king of England as well and went south to live in London.

The famous road is called the Royal Mile, It begins at the castle and goes eastwards.Off the royal mile you can explore old narrow streets on foot. You'll find some interesting shops there.

At the other end of the Royal
Mile is the Palace of
Holyroodhouse. It was built by
a Scotish king before Scotland
and England were united to
make Great Britain. Now
Holyroodhouse is a second
home for the British king or
queen, who usually visit
Edinburgh in summer.When
the royal family is not there,
you can visit the palace. You
can see the staterooms and
walk around the gardens and
the ruins of the abbey, a much
older building

Behind the Holyroodhouse is one of the Edinburgh's nine hills. This one is a long-dead volcano; it's called King Arthur's Seat. From the top you can look northwards to the great river, the Firth of Forth, and the road bridge which crosses it. The road bridge is modern, but the rail bridge is quite old. It has carried trains to the Highlands for more than a hundred years.

Слова песни:

My Bonny is over the ocean, my Bonny is over the sea,
my Bonny is over the ocean, o bring back my Bonny to me!
Bring back, bring back, o bring back my Bonny to me, to me;
bring back, bring back, o bring back my Bonny to me.

Last night as I lay on my pillow, last night as I lay on my bed,
last night as I lay on my pillow, I dreamed that my Bonny was that!
Bring back, bring back, o bring back my Bonny to me, to me;
bring back, bring back, o bring back my Bonny to me.
The winds have blown over the ocean, the winds have blown over thesea,
the winds have blown over the ocean and brought back my Bonny to me.
Brought back, brought back, o brought back my Bonny to me, to me;
brought back, brought back, o brought back my Bonny to me.
