Andrew Lloyd Webber

Andrew Lloyd Webber is an English composer, the elder son of the organist and composer William Lloyd Webber and Jean Johnstone, the violinist and pianist. He was born in Kensington, London, in March 22 in 1948.His younger brother, Julian Lloyd Webber, was a solo cellist. Lloyd Webber began to compose the music at the age of six, his first work was published in nine years. He also made his "performances" with Julian and his aunt Viola in his toy theatre, which he had built at Viola’s suggestion. His aunt Viola, actress, took him to see many of her shows and show him the world of the theatre.
Webber has achieved great success in the field of musical theatre. Some musicals are more than ten years in the West End and on Broadway. The first success came to him at the age of 19, when he and Tim Rice wrote the opera “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” for school performance. Webber and Tim Rice continued to work together, they wrote the opera “Jesus Christ Superstar” (1970) and “Evita”(1976). In 1981 Webber wrote the musical Cats (Cats) to the words of Nobel laureate T. S. Eliot.
He made 18 of musicals, two soundtracks to the movies, and one Requiem. He has received many prestigious awards. Several of his songs, in particular "The Music of the Night" from the musical "The Phantom of the Opera", "I Don't Know How to Love Him" from the rock Opera "Jesus Christ superstar", "Don't Cry for Me, Argentina" from "Evita" and "Memory" from "Cats" became hits.
Several films were shot on the Webber’s musicals, and Madonna starred in the role of Evita in screen version of this musical.
Andrew Lloyd Webber was knighted by the Queen in 1992. In 1997, he was created a life peer as Baron Lloyd-Webber of Sydmonton in the County of Hampshire. He is properly styled as The Lord Lloyd-Webber. He sits as a Conservative member of the House of Lords.
The Sunday Times Rich List 2006 ranked him the 87th-richest man in Britain with an estimated fortune of £700 million. His wealth increased to £750 million in 2007.

Цель:

- познакомить обучающихся с общепризнанными шедеврами театрального искусства;

Задачи:

Образовательные:

- создать основу для изучения эмфатических конструкций и формирования навыка их использования;

- содействовать ознакомлению и закреплению лексики по теме «Theatres»;

Развивающие:

- способствовать развитию умения аудировать с извлечением конкретной информации;

- создать основу для развития монологической речи;

- создать базу для развития языковой догадки, навыков контекстного перевода;

Воспитательные:

- содействовать повышению интереса к культуре иноязычных стран;

- способствовать развитию кругозора обучающихся;

- создать условия для воспитания в обучающихся толерантности и уважения чужого мнения.
