Lesson «If You Want Happiness»

I.       Warming up. a) Look at the pictures and guess what we are going to speak about.

                            b) Look at the picture, find the first four words you see and introduce yourselves using the found words.

II.    «A bird sitting on a tree is never afraid of the branch breaking because its trust is not on the branch but on its own wings. Always believe in yourself. » Do you believe in yourself? Comment on the proverb.

Choose: I believe in myself. I’m reliable. I’m responsible. I’m helpful. I help my parents and friends. I have a lot of friends. I learn well. I do my homework. I work hard. I can run /cook /dance well. I study hard. I read a lot. I\m never late for my classes.

III.  Read Happy Recipe; make your own Happy Recipe.

A modern “happy recipe” includes: 4 cups of love, 2 cups of loyalty, 3 cups of forgiveness, 1 cup of friendship, 5 spoons of hope, 2 spoons of tenderness, 4 quarts of faith,1 barrel of laughter.

 Take love and loyalty, mix with faith.

       Blend it with tenderness, kindness, and understanding.

       Add friendship and hope, sprinkle abundantly with laughter.  

       Bake it with sunshine.

       Serve daily with generous helpings.

IV.  The best doctors are: Dr. Diet, Dr. Quiet and Dr. Merryman.

What are your best doctors? Why?

V.    If you want to feel rich, just count the things you have that money can’t buy. (Proverb) How rich are you? Name the things you have. (I think I’m rich. I have air, water, friends, parents, knowledge, good health, the ability to dance. I don’t have to work.)

VI.   Mistakes are like punctuation marks of life, without which the text does not make sense. What mistakes do you usually make? Can you describe some unusual one?

               I don’t always tell the truth. I’m lazy. I don’t always keep my promises, etc.

VII.            7 Steps. Match the parts. Do it in groups. Choose the most important rule.

a)   Think less,          Listen more

b)   Frown less,         Accept more

c)   Talk less,            Love more

d)   Judge less,          Feel more

e)   Watch less,         Smile more

f)    Complain less,    Do more

g)   Fear less,            Appreciate more

VIII.        A) If You Want Happiness

If you want happiness for an hour - take a nap.
If you want happiness for a day - go fishing.
If you want happiness for a month - get married.
If you want happiness for a year - inherit a fortune.
If you want happiness for a lifetime - help others. (Chinese Proverb)

            B) Do you agree with it? Give examples from life.

IX. Watch the video «A Credo for Making it Happen». Answer the questions.

4.     What should you remember? (It’s a whole lot of life force on your side.)

7.     What does fear mean for you? (Fear is natural Respect your fear. It’s part of the creative process and it keeps you alert)

8.     What is passion) (fuel)

9.     What is balance? (It’s a myth.)

10. What should you do for your progress? (Launch and learn.)

11. What can you tell me about the universe? (The universe is always expanding and it includes us.)

12. What should you focus on? (We can do this. We’ve got this. We make it happen.)

X.     Imagine that life - is a game built on juggling a few balls. Choose a few balls your life is built on, give them names and say what they are made from. Glue them on a piece of paper and show to the class.
