Предмет: английский язык 9 класс

Тема: “To be or not to be a vegetarian?”

Задачи урока: закрепить и активизировать изученные лексические единицы и грамматические структуры устной и письменной речи, провести контроль знаний изученного материала.

Цели урока:

Развивающие: развивать умение систематизировать знания, память, развивать мышление, логику изложения в устной и письменной речи; развивать навыки интерактивного чтения, умения делать выводы.

Воспитывающие: создать условия для формирования ответственного отношения к здоровью, воспитывать чувство уважения к мнению товарища;

Учебные: совершенствование речевых компетентностей, развитие навыков чтения, аудирования и письма.

Задачи урока:

закрепить и активизировать изученные лексические единицы и грамматические структуры в чтении, устной и письменной речи, провести скрытый контроль знаний изученного материала.

Оснащение урока: презентация по теме урока; учебник Т. Аяпова «Английский язык», 9 класс.

Тип урока: комбинированный

Методы обучения: фронтальный, групповой.

Ход урока

I.Organization moment. Greetings.

Hello, dear friends! Glad to meet you! At this lesson we are going to continue working at our topic “Health”, but the main thing we are going to discuss today is “Healthy eating”. Today at our lesson we shall discuss problems of healthy eating, to be or not to be a vegetarian, you will learn how to eat well in order to be healthy. You will do some exercises, practice in reading and speaking about healthy eating.

II. Warm up.

Now look at the screen and complete the sentences you see there. In your handouts you can find these sentences, as well. There are some words which you can use in your sentences.

III.Presentation the theme. At this lesson we are going to continue working at our topic “Health”, but the main thing we are going to discuss today is “Healthy eating”. Today at our lesson we shall discuss problems of healthy eating, to be or not to be a vegetarian, you will learn how to eat well in order to be healthy. You will do some exercises, practice in reading and speaking about healthy eating.

1. Working in small groups Some teenagers worry too much about their weight and use a calorie-controlled diet. Look through the list of popular ways to lose weight and say which facts seem surprising to you. What’s your attitude towards the following facts? What methods of losing weight are used by your friends or relatives?

T.: Do you know what the name is for somebody who doesn’t eat meat, who doesn’t eat any animal products.

Eating habits are very important. Every person chooses his own eating habits. One of them is to be a vegetarian. Listen to the text «Vegetarian». The text is a summary, which presents a description of the word vegetarian and counts the reasons to be a vegetarian.

IV. Jigsaw reading.

T.: You are going to read the texts about two girls. Laura thinks that “it’s natural for humans to eat meat”, but Ann feels “guilty after eating meat”. Who do you agree (disagree) with? Why? Give your reasons.

Work in two groups. Group A reads Text A “Ann’s point of view”. Group B reads text B “Laura’s point of view”.

Read your extract and do the tasks given below your text. Find a partner from your group, go through the tasks together. Find a partner from the other group and swap information.

V. Vocabulary work T.: Find the following words in the texts. Try to work out from the context the correct meaning of the words in bold from the alternative given.

2. Speaking with a partner.

T.: Find a partner from the other group. Tell your partner about your text, using your answers.

VI. Working in small groups.

T.: Divide in groups of three. Write a chart of this kind on your flipcharts. Complete the chart using as many ideas as possible.
