Цель: 1. Систематизация и обобщение знаний учащихся по теме «Защита окружающей среды». Введение новой темы «Экологические проблемы»

Dear friends. About two hundred years ago man lived in greater harmony with his environment because industry was less developed. Today the situation is quite different. People all over the world are worried about the environment. Newspapers and magazines write about water air and land pollution. The problem of our lesson is the global situation in ecology and what we can do with it. We’ll try to discuss some environmental problems. And the theme of our lesson today is “Ecological Problems”
Today we’ll speak about ecological problems in our country, town and our village. How we can protect our seas, oceans, rivers. Children, let’s remember the grammar theme of the last lesson and answer the question, please. Нow can we use article “the” with the names of the countries , seas, oceans, continents, and rivers? (отвечают на вопрос)
So, you are absolutely right. Then, let’s open our books page 36 and do exercise number 8. Read the task please. (Читают задание) Listen very attentively and repeat after the speaker. (слушают запись, повторяют) And now you should go to the blackboard and group the places into 4 columns.

Children, look at this text, please. Your task is read it and prove the following with the help of the text. You have 3 minutes to look through the text. ( читают текст, отвечают на вопросы)

Imagine that we have some rubbish. And we should classify it. 1 bin - for recycling, 2bin - for reusing, 3 bin - for composting» Come here, take the card, choose the bin and explain why. На столе 3 подписанные коробки, мусорные баки: на 1 - надпись- «for recycling», На 2 - «for reusing», на 3 - «for composting». Дети должны распределить предметы по «мусорным бакам».
Предметы: can, plastic bottle, glass bottle, leaf, flower, paper, metal cup, aluminum spoon, cartons, wool sock.

Today we’ve said again about “Environmental protection” and we’ve learnt the new theme “Ecological problems”, answer the question how we have to protect our planet. At the end of our lesson I may say – “Our planet is in our hands”

When the Americans decided to clean up the Statue of Liberty in 1986, the first thing they had to do was to make a hole in her nose and take away the acid rain that had collected inside. The polluted air of New York had mixed with the rain and damaged the Statue badly. And you certainly know that most of the pollution in big cities comes from cars and buses.
More and more often people are told not to be in direct sunlight, because ultraviolet radiation from the sun can cause skin cancer. Normally the ozone layer in the atmosphere protects us from such radiation, but if there are holes in the ozone layer ultraviolet radiation can get to the earth. Many scientists think that these holes are the result of air pollution.
Nuclear power stations can go wrong and cause nuclear pollution. This happened in Windscale in Britain, in Three Mile Island in the USA and Chernobyl in the former Soviet Union. Nuclear pollution cannot be seen but its effects can be terrible.
To make air clean again we need good filters at nuclear power stations, at factories and plants and also in cars and buses.
Both clean air and clean water are necessary for our health. If people want to survive they must solve these problems quickly. Man is beginning to understand that his environment is not just his own town or country, but the whole earth. That’s why people all over the world think and speak so much about ecology.
Prove the following with the help of the text.

Nuclear power stations can cause a lot of trouble.
Man should solve ecological problems as soon as possible.
