T: Good morning, boys and girls!

       Sit down, please! Who is on duty today?

P: I am on duty today.

T: Who is absent?

     Now children, I want to ask you some questions about the weather.

1. What season is it now? - It is spring now.

2. What is the weather like today?-It is cloudy/rainy, windy, sunny. /

3. How many months are there in autumn?-There are three months in spring.

4. What are they?-They are March, April and May.

T. All right children. Let us begin our lesson.

Buckingham Palace

There two addresses in London that the whole world knows. One is 10 Downing Street, where the Prime Minister lives. London lies on the river Thames. The other is Buckingham Palace. This famous palace, first built in 1703, is in very centre of London.

It is two places, not one. It is a family house, where children play and grow up. It is also the place where presidents, kings, politicians go to meet the Queen.

Buckingham Palace is one of the most famous buildings in the world. Thousands of tourists come to see it every year; it is one of the top three tourists’ attractions in London.  England is not as big as Kazakhstan. In 1994 British people went to the Palace for the first time.

The Palace is one of the four homes of the Royal Family. The Royal Family also has another home just outside London, at Windsor Castle. The weather in England is never hot or very cold.

Buckingham Palace is like a small town, with a police station, two post offices, a hospital, a bar, two sports clubs, a disco, a cinema, and a swimming pool. There are 600 rooms with three miles of red carpet. Two men work full-time to look after the 300 clocks. About 700 people work in the Palace.

VI. Production.

Giving directions. Prepositions

T: Let’s learn about some important little words.  They are called prepositions.

Prepositions are parts of speech which are used to link words like nouns and pronouns to other words in a sentence.  These nouns and pronouns are the direct object of the preposition. This is a good clue for recognizing prepositions.

Pre means before, and position means place – so the preposition is placed before the object!

Prepositions  also  give  us  information  about  things  like  time,  place,  and direction.  We can say that they show the relationships between words.

For example, here is a box. Think about how many places you could be in relation to a box. You could be on it, in it, behind it, beside it, or under it. All of the words in italics are prepositions of place. If we had two boxes you could be between them. 

We could also use prepositions of direction in relation to the box. For instance, you could go over, across or around the box. You could also go into or through the box.

Prepositions of time could tell us when we did all these things in relation to the box.  You could have climbed onto the box at two o’clock.  You could have crawled into it after lunch. You could have been playing with it during playtime.
