Ход урока
Организационный момент: Good afternoon, dear friends! Today we are
going to speak about the political systems of: The Russian Federation, The
United Kingdom and The United States of America.
Постановка цели урока: Last lessons we have learned structures of the political
government of our country and English - speaking countries .Would you like
to discuss
that theme? Let’s divide into three groups. Every representative
of group gets the flag of your country!
The first task is: Give the right information about the parts of the
political system of the state. You may use the table at the blackboard. All
pupils listen to them and then correct or add some sentences.
The parts of the political systems
|
the United Kingdom
|
the USA

The President

Parliament
|
Congress
|
The Federal Assembly
|
Parts of the Legislative branch
|
The House of commons; the House of Lords
|
The house of representatives;
The Senate
|
The Federation council; the Duma.
|
After this information let’s speak about common
features and differences between political systems! (“Russian pupils”- The Russian
Federation is a presidential republic as the USA. The president is the head of
state and is elected directly by the people. The Federal Assembly
represents the legislative branch of power. It is made up of two houses: the Federation
Council and the Duma. The American Congress has the Senate and the House
of Representatives).
And now , name the differences between political systems!
(“British pupils”. Britain is a parliamentary democracy with a constitutional
monarch. Queen Elizabeth II is the head of state but she has no riel power.
But her role is more ceremonial. In Russia the President is involved in
the work of the legislative and executive branches).
“American pupils”: I must say that the US judicial branch is
more powerful than in other countries. The legislative and executive branches of
government are involved in the system of checks and balances. The system keeps
any branch from getting too much power or using its powers wrongly. New presidents
can’t change the government policies as they wish. Each branch is a check
on the other.
The Second task is: speak in dialogues about the political systems of all
states!
The questions for” English” pupils:
Who is the head of the British government?
How many houses does Parliament consist of?
What are they?
Does the Queen rule the country?
What do people usually call the flag of the UK?
The questions for ”Russian “ pupils:
What political system is in Russia?
Who is the head of state?
Who elects the president?
Which document determines the political system?
Who can declare laws unconstitutional?
The questions for ” American ” pupils:
Is the USA a parliamentary republic?
How many states are there in the USA?
What does the USA Congress consist of?
Who heads the executive branch?
How many political parties are there in the USA?
Повторение лексического материала: работа по повторению
политических терминов. Для этого используются карточки, у которых на одной
стороне напечатано определение термина, а на другой стороне – термин. Every group gets cards.
