   Vocabulary: metal, save, protect, plastic bottles, metal cans, cardboard boxes, rubbish, fur, ivory, forest, recycle, natural resources, pollution.

   Materials: pictures, cards, CD recorder, worksheets.

I. Organization moment

              Greeting 

              Teacher: Good morning, students.

              Students: Good morning.

              Teacher: I’m very glad to see you. How are you today?

              Students: We are fine. Thank you.  And how are you?    

              Teacher: What date is it today?

    Students: Today is the 8^th of December.

    Teacher: What day of the week is it today?

    Students: Today is Tuesday.

    Teacher: What is the weather like today?

    Students: It is cloudy. It is cool.

    Teacher: What season is it now?

    Students: It is winter.

II. Announcement

   The theme of our lesson is: Saving the world. Today we’ll speak about the environmental problems on our planet because they are very important for everybody. We are happy to live on the Earth. We’ll speak about the problems of our world and we'll try to discuss what we can do to improve the world we live in.

III. Presentation

1. Why do we love our world? I want to start our lesson with such words.

The world needs a friend

To love and depend on

In times of trouble…

The world has hope yet

If the children let it

And if we do it right

Together we can make the world

A better place

Because the world's best friend

Is you!

May be you are not agree with these words, but I hope that at the end of the lesson you will change your opinion.

There are a lot of questions what we have to discuss. For example:

-What ecological problems are there in the world? We say the Earth is in danger.

 - What exactly is in danger?

- Look at the list of problems and the pictures.

2. Students look at the board and match the pictures with words.

Soil is polluted     

Water is polluted

Air is polluted

Animals are killed for their fur, meat, oil, skin.

Forests are destroyed for buildings.

  3. And now I want you to watch and listen to the song by Michael Learns To Rock – Animals.

What problems are discussed in this song? ( air, water, soil pollution, animals in danger)  What causes air pollution? -What causes water pollution? -What causes soil pollution?

I see what you feel. But how do you think can we save the world?

1. What is the most important natural resource? What do you use every day?

4. Let’s look at the board. Here you can see five boxes. Let’s fill in it with letters. I’ll read you should write.

T is exactly in the middle

W is one letter before T

A is between W and T

R is at the end

E is between T and R

As the result you have the word “Water”. Tell me please how do you use water?

2. Do you save the energy at home?

3. What rare animals do you know? Students answers.

5. And the next question. What is recycling?

Recycling is the re-using of products or materials. Recycling saves the natural recourses of the Earth and the energy used to make new products. For example: to make 1ton of paper – you need to cut 17 trees.

So recycling paper saves trees.

 6. So the next task is to find out what are the things made of..? Students take things one by one, and they must say. It’s made of……  For example: metal, plastic, glass, paper

   7. Let’s have a task what you should do to save the world and shouldn’t do. Here you are papers with words what help you to make up sentences.

IV. Conclusion

And the last task. Think how you can help the earth. Write down it (your suggestions) on these leaves). According to your suggestions let’s make our tree. This tree will show our respect to nature. -First student stick his leaf. -Now you see that everyone wants to save our planet. Our nature is in danger. We should protect it because we want to save our beautiful planet for the next generations.
