The History of the
Manor House
2 слайд
The history of our village is connected with the family of prince Urusov, who has owned our village from the second part of the 19th century. Then Leonid Urusov gave his estate to his daughter’s husband as a marriage portion. Nicolay Maltsov build a new beautiful house instead of the old wooden one.
The photo of an unknown photographer is kept in the local museum
3 слайд
Since that time it has been the most important sight of our village – the house of the land owner Maltsov. The white two-storeyed mansion with a mansard and a veranda was build in 1909. The family lived there till 1917.
4 слайд
In this period the house and its occupants lived a vivid, eventful life. The owners were very hospitable people. That’s why a lot of guests came to them. Everywhere the music, voices and laughter were heard. The balls were often arranged in the house. Nicolay was very fond of gardening. He planted a wonderful park with rare trees around the house.
5 слайд
After the Great October Revolution the life of the house changed very much. Its owners left it for ever. At first there was a committee of the poor in the house, then a village counsel then a school . In 1927 the building was transferred to the orphanage.

8 слайд
In 2001 the local museum was opened in some rooms of the first floor of the school. The people got an opportunity to learn more about the history of the village and its main building.
9 слайд
In 2008 a new school was built in the village. All the pupils and the museum moved in the new modern building. The manor house became empty. The children’s voices fell into silence. Nobody could find a use for it .
10 слайд
In November 2012 the fire destroyed the house. Now you can see only burnt walls without windows and roof. All people of the village were very upset.
11 слайд
Now it seems sleeping surrounded by ancient trees of the park. But people believe that one day it will return to life. It would be a wonderful museum or musical school for children.

7 слайд
On 15 July 1741 Chirikov saw land at Baker Island off Prince of Wales Island at the south end of the Alaska Panhandle. This is about 450 miles southeast of Bering's landfall near Mount St. Elias at the north end of the panhandle.
8 слайд
Unable to find a harbor he sailed north along Baranov Island past the later Russian base at Sitka. He sent out a longboat to find an anchorage. When it did not return after a week he sent out his second longboat which also failed to return. Now without any small boats Chirikov had no way of searching for the two longboats or landing on the coast to explore or replenish his supply of fresh water.
9 слайд
After waiting as long as possible, he abandoned the longboats to their fate and on 27 July sailed west. He sighted the Kenai Peninsula, Kodiak Island and Adak Island near the western end of the Aleutians. With water critically low he reached Petropavlovsk on 12 October 1741.
