Тема урока: Лондон столица Великобритании.

Цели: практическая - формировать навыки диалогической и монологической речи.

развивающая – развивать творческие способности, развивать восприятие,

эмоциональную и мотивационную сферы личности учащихся.

воспитательная – формировать социокультурную компетенцию, воспитывать

уважение к культуре страны изучаемого языка, умение работать самостоятельно

и в микрогруппе.

Задачи: 1 обеспечить использование изученного лексического и грамматического

материала в ситуациях общения.

2 обеспечить закрепление и систематизацию знаний по теме.

3 создать условия для повышения мотивации.

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland consists of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The UK is an island state. The 2 main islands are Great Britain and Ireland, which are separated by the Irish Sea. The North Sea, the Strait of Dover and the English Channel separate Great Britain from the continent. The mountains in GB are not very high. There are many rivers, but they are not long. The climate is mild. The summers are cool and rainy. English seldom have White Christmas. The population is 57 million people.

The flag of the UK is known as the Union Jack. If has the red cross of St. George of England, the white cross of St. Andrew of Scotland, and the red cross of St. Patrick of Ireland all on the blue background.

P1: How are we going to get to England?

P2: The cheapest way is by bus.

P1: But how can we get to England by bus ?

P2: Oh, that’ s not a problem. In France the bus goes on a ferry. It is a big boat, which can carry buses, cars, people.

P1: How much is the bus then?

P2: A single ticket is L52

P1: That’s really cheap! What about the plane?

P2: It is the fastest way but it is expensive!

P1: And what about the train?

P2: I don’t think it’s a good idea. It will take a long time to get to England by bus and it is more expensive than the bus.

The centre of London is Trafalgar Square. In the middle of the square stands a tall column, a monument to Admiral Nelson who defeated the French at the battle of Trafalgar in 1805. Four bronze lions look at the square. There are two beautiful fountains in the square. They are in front of the National Gallery, which is one of the best pictures galleries.

The Houses of Parliament are the symbol of London, because the power in Great Britain belongs to the British Parliament. The British Parliament has two «houses»: the House of Lords and the House of Commons. The House of Lords can offer and change laws, delay laws too. The members of the House of Lords are not elected. They are permanent. The House of Commons makes laws about policy, taxes. Its members are elected every 5 years.

The clock Tower called «Big Ben». Its hour bell is named after sir Benjamin Hall, a very tall man, whose nickname was Big Ben. You can hear the sound of Big Ben every hour in London

Westminister Abbey is opposite the Houses of Parlaimennt.It is a royal church. It is ont of the most famous and beautiful churches. There is a Coronation Chair many monuments and statues there.Many English kings and queens are buried there. Westminister Abbey is famous the Poet’s Corner. The memorials to Bayron, Shakespeare, Dickens attract tourists.

Buckingham palace is a home of the Queen.It is a wondeful building wich consists of 600 rooms with a monument to Queen Victoria in front of it.Changing the Guard happens every day at 11.30 a.m.The Guards wear their traditional bearskins and scarlet

tunics.

Londoners keep black ravens in the White Tower. 38 Beеfeaters look after them, cut the birds’ wings, as they believe that London will be rich and great while 12 ravens live in the Tower of London. Beefeaters organize excursions, take photos with tourists .

You can meet great characters of history ahd art. Here actors, film stars, pop-singers and sportsmen come face to face with famous politicians. There is a special place for the Queen, her husband, their children and other members of the Royal family.
