Play “A Lucky Chance Game”
Teacher: Good afternoon, everybody! I am glad to see you.
Today we have an unusual lesson. We are going to play “A Lucky
Chance Game”. The theme of the game is “The British people and their
country”. The participants of the game are the students of the first course.
I think you have noticed that we have guests
today. They are teachers of our college.
You have learnt some information about Great
Britain and Northern Ireland. Today we are going to summarize what we have
learnt about it. You will learn some new facts and I hope you’ll try to do
your best. I am sure you will show your good knowledge of English. I wish you
good luck and success. Let’s start.
Two teams will take part in it and there'll be
three games. The first game is called "Go on!" The task is to answer
the questions at high speed. If you don't know or don't remember the answer,
you should say "Go on!" as your time is limited.
(You are given 14 minutes for each team)
Team captains, come here to determine the order
your team will be asking. First introduce yourselves.
Our referee is Marina Leonidovna, the teacher of German
and English languages. She will count the number of the right answers. Every
right answer gives one point to your team. She will announce the results after every game.
Т: The second game is called "Tricks from the
box". I've got a box full of cards with English proverbs. Team captains,
come here to choose the cards. The task is to give Russian equivalents of the
English proverbs. If you give a word-for-word translation, you'll get one
point. If you give a Russian equivalent of an English proverb, you’ll get two
points. Besides, there is a "Lucky chance" card. A "Lucky
chance" card will give your team an extra 5 points added to your score.
A Lucky Chance Card"
(Приложение 2)
Т: The third game is called "Our old friends". Great
Britain is very rich in remarkable writers and poets. What are they? Now we
shall see. Look at the portrait of a well-known person and tell us the surname
in order to score one point to your team. If you add some facts about this
person you will get three points. (Приложение 3)
T:
Now I shall ask our
judge to announce the results of the competition. Жюри подводит итоги игры.
Т: The team ... has won and its members are awarded with
certificates naming them true experts of UK. All of you get “fives” in English
for your hard work.
T: How do you feel after this lesson? Please, answer.
1.
What have you learnt
new today?
2. Is it useful for you?
3. Did you like today’s lesson?
4. Was it interesting?
5. Was it difficult for you?
6. Would you like to go to England and
practice English there?
T: We’ve finished our game. You were very clever and
quick-minded. I believe that you will achieve great success in English. I am
very thankful for your participation. I hope you are pleased with the game and
you have learnt something new and have become more confident in your knowledge.
I am satisfied with the work you have represented.
